I was just wondering if i could bother some of you for an opinion. I am interested in the soon-to-be-released Takara BW reissues, and needed to know if the Convoy and Megatron figures are worth it, seeing as I have never owned the RM Convoy & Megs. The colours are great, I'm sold on those, but It's the figures and the quality of the design I'm asking about, ie. poor articulation, sculpt issues etc... Any help is needed.
I have RM Burining Beast Convoy and he's great. I am only thinking of picking up Cheetor and Corahda, but still unsure. The price is pretty steep.
They're nice enough molds, but I don't really think they fit in as well as everyone seems to think they do with the BW deluxes scale wise. All the new mold RM figures -I've owned them all btw- are sized somewhere between a basic/scout and a deluxe which isn't bad in itself, but that means that if you put the RM Megs and Primal molds next to the BW deluxes they're kind of small. Of course, they're closer in scale than the original releases that were the size of old school Ultras/today's Megas/Voyagers. So, it really just depends on your own personal preferences.
Well, I only plan on getting Convoy and Megs if I do, (and maybe Dinobot) and to be fair, only the original Primal was out of scale, Megs wasn't. (He was really big in the show) Also, does anyone know when in march they'll be out?
I never cared for the RM Megatron mold, but the new recolor does look spot on. Beast Convoy was a good mold, so I recommend that one.
Laser Op is right on - the sizes aren't quite as perfectly in scale as you might think. What I'm wondering about most is, will there be any difference between the "early release" set of eight that BBTS is selling (which I've preordered) and the individual releases of those same eight. I wouldn't imagine so, but it sure would be neat if it were a massive giftset.
Oh, Kooltoyz said march, so naturaly I thought mabye late march. Plus Takara has updated there site too.
The Beast Convoy mold is fantastic. Small, yes, but very show-accurate. The only thing "wrong" with the mold (aside from his size) was his colours... but the reissue pretty much nails them. Not sure he's worth the high price, though, because he is essentially a glorified basic. Beast Megatron, on the other hand, isn't quite as good. The bot mode looks pretty good, but the back "wings" tend to get in the way of a lot of good poses. Beast mode... he's a stubby hunchback. His head looks great, but that's about it. The new colour scheme does look snazzy, though.
