WRONG. first it went from human, then pig, mutated, and it came back to bite us in the ass. at least thats what my history teacher says, but what does she know? she only watches the news EVERY HOUR SHES NOT TEACHING LITTLE BRATS.
I got it last week, its not bad at all! Its like a fking cold and the doctors were going nuts over me having it..
You're right it's not more deadly, it's like any other flu causing the regularly expected symptoms. Death is always possible for any strain, swine or otherwise. Unlike many flu strains the 2009 h1n1 strain is resistant to Tamiflu and has survived the regular flu season, which normally ends in early summer, about the time this one first appeared. The summer lull doesn't mean it's going away and the return of Autumn and Winter, when influenza spreads most, means it's predicted to stick around until early summer 2010. Because of this h1n1's extended period for infection, chances are it will infect more people than the 'regular' flu. The 1976 pandemic was unique because it was thought that swine strain was the same 1918 strain (which we now believe to be avian) and therefore fear drove the vaccine campaign which was enacted before the flu really even spread off the military base on which it first appeared. In fact the '76 h1n1 pandemic only lasted a couple months, unlike this year's which has already been around for 5 months and flu season hasn't yet begun. Also, more people are vaccinated yearly now than were back in 1976. tl;dr: same symptoms as all flu strains but this h1n1 has a longer life so you're more likely to catch it. Somewhat, yes: Cat flu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Influenza is infectious to all birds and mammals though symptoms vary.
I'm just glad I've so far avoided getting it. Normal flu knocks me the fuck down so I'd hate to think what the piggy version would do. People used to say 'And pigs might fly' and now we have Swine Flew. I think I'd like to catch Kung Flu though. Vaccinations for the normal flu are due again here at the end of the month. I don't have the jab anymore as for some reason it always makes me sicker than actually catching flu, which as I said earlier does me right in anyway. Dunno why it started to affect me like that, I was fine with the jab up until about five years ago.
I've been knocking on wood for years. Never broke a bone in my body, only been sick with your average common cold... Considering that I'm healthy, I live out in the country on a family farm, and I only go out when I need to... not to mention how I keep my distance from people... the chances of me getting the flu, be it the regular or the swine flu, are slim. Me and my big fat mouth...
Kung Flu gives you horrific scarring on your inner forearms. The scars look like dragons though, so it's pretty cool once they've healed.
This swine flu thing is overrated. My pharmacy in Australia is the local supplier of tamiflu and we have done a couple of hundred units. Not not only have not many customers been what I would term to be sick, but NONE of our staff have fallen ill at all. And some of our girls get crook just thinking about diseases. The only REAL functional difference is that one strain has a vaccine currently available. Now I'll agree that it is tragic that people have died due to this flu strain, but these people are generally health-compromised in the first place. I would like to see comparison stats the show deaths from regular flu compared to this new strain. So basically anyone who thinks they have flu symptoms of either strain, just take a few days off, keep hydrated, and treat the symptoms. If you have health issues, seek your Dr's advice. The thing to remember is that swine flu or the regular flu wont cause any damage to most of us, but the pregnant woman you sit next to on the bus, or the old guy with heart problems or the cancer patient with immune issues, they could be in trouble if you dont take the appropriate precautions. My college has some sort of epidemic apocalypse plan they keep advertising. I think its freaking hilarious.
My goal is to try not to be sick with anything. That way, hopefully the swine flu will hit me for a day or two, then go. People are getting f'ed up if they have underlying conditions. Kids just got regular flu shots today.
helpfully I wont catch it did it ever occur to you that when people say :"When pigs fly!" Well the "swine flu" whoever gets it get a cyber cookie
