Okay people. listen up. Everybody is saying it is like regular flu. It is NOW. When it first started, it was much worse than the regular flu. Now it has died down and is just a different strand of the regular flu. So, in short, stop posting about how it is like the regular flu. Now it is, but it wasn't before. And for the record, go tell some of the people who's kids died that it was like the regular flu. I'm sure they can tell you differently.
For some reason I couldn't delete what I was originally going to post before Habloid1177 posted, so I ended up editing my message instead. I have no idea what the differences are between the regular flu and swine flu, because like I said I never had the flu, so I assume that swine flu is -- or was -- slightly different from the regular flu, depending on its severity. Everyone is different in how they get sick. Someone are more vulnerable to illness while others can easily recover. One person could say a particular strain of flu is just like your average flu, while another would say it's worse... it just all depends on one's age, overall health, etc.
I am trying to decide if I should let my soon to be 2 yr old son get the H1N1vaccine. He's traveling to Taiwan soon which is experiencing many outbreaks of the disease and given how easily he gets sick I worry that he'll catch the flu when he goes there, but I don't like how vaccine isn't getting a lot of testing so far. Ugh I'd hate to think getting the vaccine will create more trouble than it's worth.
Yea, but during that time of the year, the normal flu usually isn't having a massive break-out everywhere. Granted, I do understand your point, I was just saying the amount of children that died was higher than it usually would have been.
But I thought they proved that this strain of flu -- which the political correctors and whatnot prefer calling it the H1N1 virus -- didn't came from pigs. What do I know? I can't ever keep up with what's going on.
H1N1 started from pigs, but that wasn't how it got in the U.S. Also, did you guys here about the dog flu? Heard it on my local news. Flu that only dogs can get. Really suprised.
I think giving it an actual number adds a little more weight to it though. And technically, this Swine Flu hasn't 'devolved' into just another regular flu (at least nothing I can find). It was originally thought to be made up of 4 different strains (1 human, 1 bird, and 2 swine), but further analysis revealed it to consist of only 2 strains endemic to swine. So yeah, people saying that it's pretty much like the regular are correct. It does hit some people harder than others, but that is what the flu has always done.
screw the flu! no one up here that i know got sick. plus even if so, the vaccinations coming out in like... 2 months.
I would say that the only tangible difference between the 2009 outbreak and a regular seasonal flu has been the disproportionate, albiet not inappropriate, response and preventative measures taken by the global community. I came down with something around the second week this Swine Flu business was gearing up in the middle of summer. Two sick days and the weekend later and I was back at work feeling peachy.
