What I've done is the swindle neck mod and added some cuts around his collar to give his head a lot more articulation.




I mainly did this next one because I know some people were wondering what a non-movie head would look like on swindle sooo...

I tried an RID Hightower one , with some added silly putty to make it stay. In car mode the head hits the ground but the wheels can still roll a bit.

BTW If anyone wants a loose RID LandFill PM me. I'm trying to get rid of some old TFs





Lastly I turned Ironhides head around and found that it makes a pretty decent looking new head. What do you think? Oh and keep in mind I don't think this head looks like Ironhide, just a cool idea for a new character maybe. Edit: whoops didn't realize this had already been noticed

The Swindle head really doesn't fit.

And the Ironhide head is pretty old.

 

LOVING the Swindle head... fairly begs to be a new character. Classics Overdrive maybe? Windcharger perhaps?

I've been wanting a Swindle, specifically to swap his head with something else... and this head happens to look pretty much on the money. It's even red!  

It's interesting to note that in the video game, these drones can come with a "decepticon" head (the lens) or an "autobot" head (Prime-like faceplate)... I wonder... just wonder... if they might release repaints of these game figures with "autobot" heads down the line. Hmmmm.

As for Ironhide... I'm in the same situation as you are. I don't mind the Ironhide head so much as it is, but I'm really tempted to turn him into a new character. I don't know why, but I -really- want to find a new head for him, but I can't decide.

I dig the flipped around face... maybe needs some painting to really be convincing, but there's something neat about it. Maybe if I swap another head onto my Movie Ironhide, this flipped head might find it's way onto another figure. Any ideas?

Swindle looks like Brimstone.            

 

The Ironhide "head" might looks better if you painted some detail on it.

Hmm, not so much liking that new head on Swindle. I guess I'm getting more used to the other movie figure heads and find that cartoon looking one a bit simple. Nice try though.

Not sure what to make of the Ironhide thing.

 

The RiD head on Swindle is fine, the body is just so goofy it doesn't fully match.

 

Simpler than a big round camera lens??

I guess I didn't explain very well. At least with the camera lens it just looks like a drone (that I think it is isn't it), with a head like the custom there it's too much like a full character but doesn't quite pull it off and certainly doesn't fit with the other movie figures. Maybe I'm just tired of the old simple anime faces.

Could be. I don't usually think of the faces as "anime" faces... but rather variations on the very first G1 TF faces (the toys and japanese box art). They're hardly "simple", though they do have more humanoid characteristics.

I appreciate the "drone" look to some degree, but I guess part of the reason that I like TFs is the individual personality of the figures... the drones look almost like manned battlemechs of some sort. For me it doesn't fit with what I identify most as TF qualities. (and yes, I know that original Diaclones were manned battlemechs, but they didn't look like it at least)

That said, the camera head is growing on me in a "cute" Droid-y kind of way.
