Glad to hear that people (at least this dude anyway) aren't being punished for crimes of thought that relate to cartoons.
It may just be how the article is written, but the defense really shouldn't have had to go past freedom of speech. Cultural differences are great, but that's ultimately irrelevant.
I would have thought it wouldn't have gotten past "debate about whether cartoon characters can be considered people."
Yay. Sweden has some sense, and at least the judge had the sense to realise it's well within the realms of that guy's job to be in possession of such material. The rest of it...good enough, don't really see why it needed so much justification, but more didn't hurt him this time so it's fine. I don't think i'll look at the word kawaii the same way again though. Kawaii was always "small and cute", but not...well, not what this guy was accused of having, at least not in my mind.
