"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

A militia is necessary, but it is also quite dangerous, even when tight "regulation" is attempted. As such, the people need their own arms to protect themselves in the event the militia should get out of control. (Or the ATF...)

It's not like it's going to keep guns out of criminal's hands if it passes (which I assume would be the main reasoning behind this), so I don't see the point.

I'll just say this... There will be no sweeping gun control with the Court as it is now.

    In before lock.

p.s. Michael Moore and Charleton Heston both suck.

I take that back. Post-1980-no-longer-doing-post-apocalyptic-action-movies-ornery-old-fart Charleton Heston sucks.

Sorry about that. I tried for a straight forward copy and paste but it didn't come out the way I wanted it to. Click the link for the full story in it's original form.

In the history of the United States of America, it has been a fact know to every man woman and child. The second ammendment gives every person the right to bear arms. It was true 200 years ago and it will continue to be true. The founding fathers wanted to make sure that the people could defend their families and the livelyhood. Trying to say that they meant something else is plain wrong.

The men who created the basis of our society over 200 years ago were fighting for their freedom from a government unwilling to let them live free from their rule. The 2nd ammendment was to guarantee that we would always have the means to defend ourselves. Not just from our enemy's or or the unknown, but the government.

I will never give up my guns nor my right to own them.

Your exactly right. Criminals will not give up their weapons....because they are criminals. The only people influenced are those who follow the gun laws and have their guns registered.

Holy cow, you are the first person to ever say exactly why I do support the second ammendment. This fact always seems to get washed away in the BS.

Doesn't concern me so I don't care. I'll just say this: With the way that America is fucked up right about now, it'd be a tragic mistake to take away the weapons. I'm all for EVENTUALLY giving up that right, but not right now.
