Going crazy is probably the best that can come of looking at the terrible line-up of Superman Returns stuff.

I don't really care for alot of it but when it comes to the stuff he's a fan of, he has rose colored glasses on and can't see flaws in anything. He'll love it.

Only one that really looks halfway decent is the super posable one and that looks like the actor and not Supes.. Sad.. First posable superman figure and it has the "returns" look to it.

Give me a super posable (30+ POA) figure damnit!

It won't be quite 30+ (no wrist flexion, finger, or toe joints), but we will be getting a fairly well-articulated one from the Mattel DC Superheroes line: here.

And yeah, the Superman Returns toys (as well as Brandon Routh and the new suit in general) make me :puke2:

As I've said before, there is nothing that I've seen, heard, or read, that makes me think the Superman movie will be anything but a train wreck.

As for the figures, well, I think the SA Supes looks more like Superman than Routh, but other than that, well....pass.

That well articulated Supes is a good step in the right direction..

DC needs better articulation on their figures..

I'm fearing the same. I want to hope Singer can pull some good out of what looks so far to be a crapfest. I mean, I really dig X-Men and X2, and I'm not even an X-comic fan.

    But, man:

    The Suit
    - Dark red... :thumbdown
    - Leathery cape... :thumbdown
    - Low-rise trunks ... :thumbdown
    - New belt... :thumb
    - Tiny, embossed "S"... :thumbdown

    The Casting
    - Spacey... :thumbs2:
    - Bosworth... :huh
    - Routh... :thumbdown
    - Not using Tom Welling... :thumbdown

    The Timing
    - WB establishing Smallville as a new continuity then developing a new movie to show concurrently that ignores said continuity in favor of half of the previous movies... :stick:

That's not a very favorable tally, so far.

The thing that bugs me the most (and I realize I'm being pretty superficial here -- sue me) is Supes's overall look. Between Routh's face shape (complete with vacant stare), fairly scrawny body type, those damned low-rise trunks, and most of the poses shown in pics and trailers so far, Superman now looks like a smarmy underwear model.

I was excited about the hyperposeable Supes, until I found out he's 14 inches and not 5 or 6. I was impressed that they could make such poseable hands for that size of a figure. However, at 14 inches he's not in scale with any other figures I have, period.

I'll probably get a whichever Supes comes with a flying base, and the most poseable 5-incher, and that's it. And a little Kevin Spacey too.
