Hmmm, it does look sweet. Very happy to hear its pure 2d, six-button, same as ever controls. Still, I look forward to what is new then.

2d will probably hurt it's chance of being a big hit, sadly, but oh well, at least they're keeping it true to it's roots

Eff that there are still hardcore 2d fanboys out there and I happen to be one of them... SFA:3 will for me, always trump any 3d fighter no matter how flashy and well made it is.

I understand there's plenty of 2d fans, I'm one of them! But for this to be a mega hit in 2d format it'll be hard, as all of the 2d fighting fans and all the nostalgia involved with Street Fighter still won't amount to the sales they'll hope for. If we ever want to see more of the same, it does need to be a success. It seems like 2d is pretty much frowned on today unless it's on a handheld console. It doesn't matter if this doesn't become the most popular game ever, I don't need that to enjoy a game, but I just want to see it be a success and potentially open the door a bit for 2d and show that it still has merit. I hope the 2d aspect doesn't hurt it's chances, which I think realistically could happen.

the highest selling fighting game of the last generation was Super Smash Brothers melee, which is a strictly 2D gameplay with polygon characters. The same will be true of Brawl.

as long as the game has some depth, no one will care if you don't fight in a ring.

wow, I'm behind the times. I didn't think it'd be possible to have real-time graphics like that.

    DHALSIM IS BACK!!!!
(If Dhalsim is back, you know who else has to be back...)

    And it's 2.5. Thank God.

The gameplay is the same Street Fighter. The graphics are just 3D now instead of sprites. I love sprites too, but todays generation grew up on Toshinden and Mario 64. They think 2D is like what we'd consider Pong. Ancient. Not to mention that drawing each individual sprite takes way more time than just animating a 3D model. They can't sell a 2D game for $60 anymore.

At least it seems like they learned from their SF3 mistake of just including only Ryu and Ken. The current roster...

    RYU
    KEN
    CHUN LI
    DHALSIM

    Um...
No -what other character is "linked" to Dhalsim?

I really like what I see and what I hear of the game design -but I was really hoping for a true 3D Street Fighter.
I guess we'll never get one.

    I don't see why that's such a stupid idea.

Capcom has had several Street Fighter "franchises" before.
I don't see why they can't have "Street Fighter" move to 3D and maybe have "Street Fighter Alpha" continue on in 3D.

In my world that's perfect. I'll have my imaginary game developers work on it as soon as I get back from Candy Mountain.

I am disappointed. The trailer implied that it was hand-painted 2d.

This is just Street Fighter EX 3.

EDIT v Is that a Burl Ives reference or a Charley the Unicorn one? I can't tell.
