I was wondering if anyone here can confirm with me that the Japanese version of PS3 is able to play both US and Japanese games. Reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of getting Gundam Musou (game seems to be rocking) and I'm afraid that it may not see a US release.
Pretty sure the games are universal, but movies are region encoded. But it may just be US and european games work on either system.
Yes, games are region free. The US also happens to be in the same Blu Ray movie territory as Japan, if that interests you.
Most interesting...however, both store owners that I spoke too mention that US PS3 machines won't be able to play Japanese PS3 games but the Japanese PS3 would be able to play both US and Japan games. If the latter is true, I will definately settle for the Japanese PS3!
I think it does. And wait a sec, it's not released in the US? Because I've seen it on storeshelves here...
Gundam Musou has only been released in Japan so far. you probably saw the Gundam game that was in the launch lineup, which was garbage.
Yeah, I have folks telling me to avoid the earlier Gundam game...Musou on the other hand has been getting decent feedbacks...however its only in Japanese...although the game is in Japanese, I'm seriously thinking of getting it...after all, its just a beat-them-up with cool effects and furious game-play...
The added ability of playing foreign games that are even more expensive doesn't move me yet. Its a good idea, putting out a region free system. Lord knows portables have been region free for close to 20 years with no problem.
Yeah, that's why I posted this question as for Japanese games being more expensive than US games...in the country that I live, the preices of both games are similar...
