thanks for sharing :)  the painting was done using a paintbrush or an airbrush? I have never done it before, I was thinking about using a paintbrush but was concerned whether it would be as good as using an airbrush

Takara figures are usually worth the wait, but I'm not sure about this one:

The athletic profile suits Sandstorm even less than it suited Springer, and (combined with my G1 background) it's orange overkill!

It all depends on what you're using. Airbrushes give a smoother, cleaner finish, but you're painting small areas like faces -- with high-quality model paints and decent brushes -- it's far easier than if you use an airbrush (which would require a painstaking masking process).

Of course, if you've never done it before, you'll find both paintbrushes and airbrushes difficult to work with. Enamel, acrylic and lacquer paints each have their own ideal thinner/paint ratios, gloss/matte ratios, and unique drying times. It'll take some trial-and-error to determine exactly what works best for you and your equipment.

That's some nice photo shopping you've done with Sandstorm.

    Such wonderful light-piping...

Are you suggesting my backdrop's fake?

Perhaps I should be flattered. ;)

    Epic! :D

Does light-piping deserve its own thread? ;)

Given his color scheme (and his athletic proportions), I figured the AstroTurf would suit Sandstorm better:

Such a handsome fellow. The camera loves him!

I agree. This is one of the few occasions when I prefer HASBRO's to TAKARA's.

HASBRO's a fair enough homage to the G1 figure so I'm willing to let the difference in colour shade slide.

Chaos Paladin looks awesome. I wish Hasbro have us something like this instead of the titanium toy or the movie version toy

In robot mode, perhaps. As it turns out, however, Takara's more uniform orange color scheme gives the alt. modes a much more cohesive look than Hasbro's:

    Stop it, Tony. Just stop.
I've already spent over $6000 on Transformers this year... and now you're gonna make me start a whole damned Beast Wars collection, too!

Man, you sure make those Maximals look good.
    The Predacons, too.

As clearly illustrated by unem's comparison pic.
    No argument there, Max. :)

You know, it seems increasingly obvious to me that Sandstorm's car mode was intended to be a dragster:

The ridiculously massive rear tires simply don't make sense otherwise... and why would they bother with translucent side windows if they're meant to be concealed on all three modes? :peoples:
This configuration simply makes a lot more sense.

Great shots. Gotta say, the Primal figure really does stand the test of time quite nicely... Honestly if they ever updated it, it'd not require much more than an improvement on the articulation, and make some of the kibble hide a bit better.

    Thanks!

The boys are back in town...
