Kotaku, the Gamer - Plays North American SNES cartridges - Features A/V out to plug into TV's - Port to plug in SNES controllers - Rechargeable battery w/ 5.5 hours life
nice, i know its only a mockup but the placement of those controller ports is a bit wiggedy though, hopefully they'll have covers or something.
The Super Nintendo is my favorite console ever made. All of my favorite classics exist there. The SupaBoy will definitely be a must buy - except I think I'll wait until other people review it to make sure the hardware works exactly as it should.
This looks really cool, but I have to agree about the controller port covers. It definitely needs them. Still, this definitely makes me want to track down some old Snes cartridges.
Cool, but with the tons of emulators out there this seems a little late to the party. If I still had any SNES carts around I'd probably be interested, though.
Doubt they'll rely on old cartridges for future sales. Seems likely they'll rerelease them in some way. If not it'll be up to ebay, Amazon.com and comic shops to keep it going. Unless portable console sales is their only goal. Doubt that since their the king of the handheld market, they need to stay sharp on all it's fronts. The Wii is practically dead.
This isn't being released by Nintendo. Nintendo has nothing to do with this. This is a 3rd party company who specializes in peripherals and making game consoles to play retro games. Their most popular product is the RetroN 3. It plays NES, SNES and Sega Genesis cartridges.
I've got a NES/Famicom clone made by Hyperkin and it's pretty good. All the cartridges fit super tight and you have to hold the system in a death grip to remove them, but other than that it was worth the $20 I paid. I would look into buying one of these assuming it wasn't overpriced.
Those cartidges take up alot of room after awhile. May get one of those Nerf cartridge bags since the games are about the same size as those cartidges. Strap them to my chest and be a SNES warrior. Still have the SNES that ex member VGM Studios sent me. Works like a champ too. (yeah f you xbox 360)
