Having a baby and going to grad school doesn't leave me much time to customize anymore, but I picked up a Sunstreaker and thought I could give him some touchups.

I think he is a great mold, but I don't care for the yellow plastic. The yellow plastic rarely looks good on any figure, and I don't think he is any exception.

I've included pictures of a half and half of what he will look like compared to what the finished product will be. If you can't tell, the left side of the picture is what I have done so far. I gave him a darker yellow but he still needs some touchups. I have problems with the Tamiya gloss spray paints, they don't want to "grab" hold of the plastic and it leaves thin areas. I don't have a problem at all with the their flat paints. I'm going to pick up some primer and give it a try, I usually don't use primer because of the tolerances. He was also given a coat of semigloss to knock down some of the shine from the paint.

Is that airbrushed or painted by hand on the outside panels? Any rate that's a great job. The yellow that you applied just "pops"! Fantastic job on your drybrush skills also.

Yeah, the painted side does look way better than the unpainted side...the unpainted side just looks kinda bland compared to what you have painted.

Nice job....looking forward to the completion :thumb

That looks nice. Did you take all the pieces off to paint? I thought mine looked good out of the box until I saw this. I look forward to the final pics.

Yes, he was completely diassembled for the parts that were painted.

I'm now back home from grad school so I should be able to finish him up this week.
