View attachment 27787858 Background: I really like my henkei Sunstreaker but he is just a little to large for the other deluxe autobots. There are also just a few features on the figure that I don't like that much. So, I went in search of other options... I found combiner wars sunstreaker. And, while this figure is ok, it still isn't quite what I wanted for my ultimate classics version. Then, I had an idea... Input= Combiner wars Streetwise Mods= Printed head Printed chest Printed dual vents Printed rifle with special scope Full repaint in rustoleum marigold Testors black accent coloring Tamiya chrome silver for face and accent coloring Testors cobalt blue for the eyes Tamiya red for tail lights ....Almost done with my experimental Sunstreaker now and I'm actually really happy with the outcome. It's not quite finished. I need to tidy up some of the paintwork and build him a dual air vent for vehicle mode that will also mount behind his head in robot mode. But, overall, I think I have a replacement for my classics figure. I will get more pics up soon and update as I move ahead with the final mod. Here is my new classics Sunstreaker...
Nice work, this is a much better mold. Shame he is no longer a Lambo though, but it's sacrifice was not in vain
Hi. I'd say the rustoleum was ok. Not as good as Krylon but I couldn't find a better match for this color in the Krylon range. I didn't have to Prime the figure. Just sprayed the yellow right on and did 2-3 coats. It went through a tacky stage for several hours after each coat. On the first coat, I thought the figure was done because I'd read that a tacky coat basically meant the spray had melted the adhering surface and wouldn't properly cure. But, thankfully it did cure and hardened well. I left about 24 hours between each coat. So far, it's working out well.
See what you think when I post the vehicle pics. I think it has a look of a modern lambo. Passes for me anyway The robot definitely has a better look to it than the CW Sunstreaker IMO.
good to know, thank you. and hes awesome btw, didnt mention that in my original post. fucking spot on.
Added some vehicle pics. Sadly, I seem to be developing a very unsteady hand. So, some of my lines are a lot worse than I'd like. I probably need to start taping to prevent overspill. Oh well....guess you can get the idea anyway.
That's gorgeous! It reminds me of what I hoped CW Sunstreaker would actually be, but of course we got the fluorescent menace. I hate absolutely everything about Optimus Maximus. I oughta sell that lump of crap off someday.
Ooh that alt mode is: I know its a Nissan now but it looks a lot like a Lamborghini. I actually like the Breakdown mold but this version looks so much better, even though I'm not that fond of the Dead End mold strange isn't it?
Thanks for the feedback guys. I appreciate it. I had no idea this car was actually a Nissan. lol. I figured it was kind of a hybrid vehicle that they came up with due to not getting design rights agreed or something. It's funny because as soon as I had the initial idea for this project, I typed into google 'yellow Lamborghini' and the first few pictures I saw gave me the inspiration for where to go with this. I kind of mixed the concept of an Aventador style front end and a Gallardo back end in my own mind and thought, yep, that'll do it. It's interesting though, how color can really be used to make a mold look great or average. I think Sunstreakers coloring really compliment this mold well. Not so unpredictable but, *spolier alert* I can't wait to see what Sideswipe is going to look like in this same mold
