Hey all, my fiancee and I have finally decided to trawl through the G1 cartoons (neither of us having actually watched through the series, and her having never seen the 1986 movie), and I was wondering some particular episodes to watch. I don't want the headache that would come with rewatching the entire series (I tried rewatching the 1980s Ninja Turtles, and actually had to stop because my head was throbbing), so I'm looking for the most awesome, most hilarious, or most WTF episodes to watch.

    Currently on the list are:

A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court
    Auto-Bop
    The Girl Who Loved Powerglide
    Masquerade
    Webworld
    Starscream's Ghost
    Ghost in the Machine

I know we should watch the Dinobots episodes (she loves Grimlock), but what else? I'm open to any suggestions except B.O.T.

Starscream's Brigade is one of the very few Sunbow G1 episodes I consider worth watching.

I wouldn't recommend showing "The Girl Who Loved Powerglide" since it's a bad episode if you ask me.I can recommend "Triple-Takeover" and "Heavy Metal War".

Well, it falls more into the WTF category. By the same logic, I probably should have Sea Change, too.

You really should watch the original 3-parter for starters.

I would also recommend Fire in the Sky, Fire on the Mountain, Starscream's Brigade, and the Revenge of Bruticus. Auto Berserk is pretty good, too. Actually, I'd go with the entire first season which generally has decent writing, then pick and choose from the rest. But that's me.

Avoid Carnage in C-Minor - unless you want an episode that makes even BOT look good.

Every now and then someone asks this question and my answer is if you want to watch G1 without watching all of G1, I suggest this abridged list:

    Season 1 (8/16 Episodes):
More Then Meets the Eye 1-3
    Fire in the Sky
    SOS Dinobots
    War of the Dinobots
    Plague of Insecticons
    Heavy Metal War

    Season 2 (17/49 Episodes):
    Autobot Spike
    Attack of the Autobots
    The Master Builders
    Megatrons Master Plan 1,2
    Desertion of the Dinobots 1,2
    The Golden Lagoon
    The Secret of Omega Supreme
    Triple Takeover
    The Search for Alpha Trion
The Key to Vector Sigma 1,2
    War Dawn
    Masquerade (I'd show it here)
    Starscreams Brigade
    Revenge of Bruticus

    TF:TM

    Season 3 ( 15/30 Episodes):
    5 Faces of Darkness 1-5
    The Killing Jar
    Dark Awakening
Forever is a Long Time Coming
    Webworld
    The Ultimate Weapon
    Dweller in the Depths
    Grimlocks New Brain
    Call of the Primitives
The Return of Optimus Prime 1,2

40 Episodes and the Movie. However you get a variety in those episodes, all the major character introductions, some of the deeper storylines, and the largest storyarcs (The Search for Alpha Trion, Key to Vector Sigma, War Dawn, and Forever is a Long Time Coming are all tied together)

Dude, that episode used to creep me out. T.T

I would recommend "The Key to Vector Sigma". It was glorious to see both Gestalt teams showing up for the first time. ;)  Long live the Aerialbots!!!

    Call of the Primatives

May not be one of the best episodes but after watching all of the episodes to G1, you will notice something.....different

Call of the Primitives is a pretty good one. I should have already put it on the list.

I really thank everyone's suggestions, but I'm wondering, are these only the best/most awesome episodes? I'm looking for some good hilarious/WTF episodes too, as I mentioned.

I don't really consider Call of the Primitives to be a good episode. It just tends to end up on people's lists solely because of the animation...despite everyone seems to be horribly off-model. :D

Got to watch Child's Play. In my opinion, it's a hilarious episode.
