So one of the negatives of the 'one thread for each user' policy in the for-sale thread is.. it's basically a bump-a-thon with no way of really keeping track of what threads you've looked at or really which have the type of figures you are interested in because 'Bonzos great selloff thread!' doesn't really tell you whats in it until you read it. @Tony_Bacala what if you enabled tags for that forum, and created tags for each of the major toy categories.. and allowed users to set and edit their tags for their threads? This way a user could easily search for all for sale threads with 'masterpiece' or 'ROTF', etc. Users could update their tags when they update their lead posts. This could also be applied to other forums, but I think the For Sale thread would benefit the most from it. It's really difficult to browse for items of interest.. without searching for specific keywords. Thoughts?
It's possible, but we've found that requiring prefixes or tags leads to people just entering the bare minimum, mostly incorrect, to get the thread posted. Making search results incomplete and destroying the whole point. Might look into it again down the road though.
Would seem like it would be a self feedback system... want your stuff found to be sold? mark it I would think the problem would be the other way, abusing it by tagging everything to make their threads read... meaning having to police it in some way.
