Not a huge fan of this figure. It looks too small. And I dont like the head. Just looks bland and dull.
I could give it all a pass if she had the final head, but she doesn't. I really really want Shatter, but Studio Series might just pull a surprise on us and give us a better one... again, the head is the clinching point for me.
I keep seeing that the Bumblebee Movie studio series figures are based off the concept art, where are people finding this? I mean with the head on the figure it’s pretty obvious, but I haven’t seen any concept art at all.
The only thing im not digging is that she looks like she has a small cape. (like crosshairs but shorter) Of couse a proper non\'- masked head would be preferred. But all and all it looks pretty good and the 3rd party mouth face head will come along no doubt. Now bring out that car dropkick already.
Hahahaha. Now I can’t unsee Shatter like that. Kinda disappointed in her bot mode. The chest is so blocky. Hopefully, they have a jet mode lined up for a 2nd chance.
Only in name. People have forgotten that VW Bee, Dropkick, and Shatter are being released in Studio Series because the Bumblebee movie wasn't going to receive it's own Generations style line, but the side effect is that the first takes on all three are a bit lacking compared to the rest of the line. No one has, but we know it to be the case because that's how movie based figures have been designed since forever. It takes 12-18 months to bring a figure to life, so if you have any chance of releasing these guys around the release of the movie the designers at HasTak have no choice but to use the concept art (which can unfortunately and often does lead to inaccuracies with the toy versus what's seen in the final cut of the film).
kinda sucks that Bumblebee for as good of a movie as it is, is getting shitted on toy-wise... SS Dropkick is a disgusting mess both visually and in execution, and neither that nor this Shatter feel right in terms of scale. PLUS we still haven't seen a Blitzwing, and for being a movie with a small cast, we should have gotten either two SS versions from the start of both Shatter and Dropkick or, GASP, triple changers!!! C'mon Hasbro, it's like you aren't even rooting for your own film here...
Another thing, while I appreciate the early pics, but can he leave out the lego trees and out of scale figures. Honestly if hes not gonna make diorama pics that look cool Id rather just have an empty background.
I think there's parts in the shoulders that are supposed to flip in front that he might have missed. Still like the look of the figure, but the choice of color makes it look cheap.
Robot mode is alright, but not great. Would have been nice if the backpack was done better, but I have more of an issue with the head. It is boring and ugly. With how the figure looks, I kinda understand why people are saying this looks cheap. I am likely not buying this. Would be cool if we get a toy of Shatter with a jet mode. Along with Dropkick with his car mode, but who knows when that’ll happen if at all. Maybe down the line hopefully?
What really bothers me is the scale, because in the movie they were noticeably taller than Bumblebee, but I recall people defending the Dropkick figure by saying they weren't "much bigger" but they definitely were, and the toys are practically the same size as Bumblebee's VW figure, which is the smallest version of him yet as well.
