I like your way of thinking! Maybe they are the TF equivalent to omega-class mutants; each with their own unique (world-ending) powers.

I have to believe that each one of them would satisfy Phase Six objectives in their own individualized ways, as power and personality dictate.

 

Exactly. Of course 2 out of 3 Phase Sixers so far have just been powerhouses, and as far as we know, there aren't any others... but I thought it might be cool if Black Shadow subverted planets through manipulation and sabotage, rather than scorched earth tactics like Sixshot. But who knows?

Here's a question... if Megatron had an override keyword for Sixshot, did he have one for Overlord too? Or was Sixshot just the most powerful of the bunch, so he needed one?

I think the answer is "sort of."

Sixshot was built with actual input from Megatron to be a weapon.

Overlord predates Megatron, or is at least a sometime peer. He has immense power but also a penetrating intellect. Megatron couldn't implement a true failsafe but he had Shockwave infect him with that "Achilles virus" so that if he turned on Megatron, he wouldn't be able to fight effectively.

Black Shadow, who knows, he's just a cool plot hook. However I would think that there's no point at all in infiltrating a phase-six planet. He's got to be a powerhouse.

Well, basing it off of the IDW stuff (which I am in love with) Shockwave, Sixshot, Thunderwing, Overlord, Galvatron, and maybe even Blackshadow (I think he was one of the other phase-sixers).

As for Overlord predating Megatron... not sure about that, but he seems to see Megatron as a peer (or at least, he desperately wants Megatron to see HIM as one). However, I kind of figured the Phase Sixers were not necessarily built from scratch, or forged wholesale, but developed and upgraded as a larger project, building on qualified applicants. So a guy like Overlord might have already been powerful, then was selected to be a Phase-Sixer and given all sorts of additional improvements.

To some degree, sure. But maybe his way of bringing a planet into a phase six level of subjugation is achieved through more stealthy means, rather than just showing up and shooting everything till it falls down. Like maybe he's specialized in dealing with advanced tech civilizations, and likes to turn planetary defenses against their owners, or whatever...

...whatever though. I'm just batting around ideas.  

I doubt that. A lot. Animated Megatron is a killer. Lugnut is a brute, but I doubt he'd last against Megs. He might be in the same strength category (maybe even a bit stronger), but I wouldn't give him much of a chance in that fight.

But based on Animated and his RTS Classics appearance, I'd agree he's definitely up there with the strongest Decepticons.

IDW comics introduced the concept. Decepticon conquest of planets proceeds in "phases", beginning with infiltration. Phase Six is the final stage of subduing a planet... basically laying waste to the entire indigenous population. Megatron commissioned 3 Decepticon super-warriors to be his "Phase-Sixers"... they are individual Decepticons who are considered powerful enough to wipe out a planet on their own. They're only really called in for endgame scenarios because they're that powerful. So far, it seems like there are only 3 of them... Sixshot, Overlord (who rebelled) and Black Shadow (who we really know nothing about).

The Achillies Virus was mentioned by Shockwave in Last Stand of the Wreckers after Shockwave was freed.

Basically whenever Megatron invaded planets to take them over/destroy them/strip them of their resources he had a 6-step(phase) process of doing so. And naturally the phase-sixers were his heavy hitters and basically the finishers.. Dudes pretty much get the job done.

Weird, I don't remember ANY of that stuff about the Achilles Virus from LSOTW! I should go back and read that stuff one of these days. I don't think I've touched them since I first picked them up from the store and read them on the way home.
