It's out now available at SorR project

Just played through the first two levels on Normal. Certainly more challenging than Streets of Rage 2, about as hard as 3.

I can already tell, this has been an ongoing project of love for 8 years and it shows. Although the intro seems a bit goofy to me and should be darker, the game plays like it did back when SoR 3 was released with some appreciated graphical updates and touches. I'm gonna have to force myself not to play until finals are over =(

honestly, this is freaking amazing. basically the sor3 engine with the look and feel of sor2. i agree about the opening artwork, but luckily once in game it all looks very 16 bit and fits nicely. i am literally blown away by what is on offer here for free.

    also, Cody XD

    SO FREAKING GOOD.

finished an easy run last night (easy as i was by myself in 1 player). unlocked the shop, tons of stuff in there! 6 characters to buy... i bought the cheapest one and ended up with Roo.

need to find a partner to take to the streets with, need to get better ending!

Sega asked them to pull it.
I'm not sure how to interpret the rules in regards to posting where it can still be downloaded, but it doesn't take much Googling to find it.

I did not know such an awesome thing existed! Thank you everyone for bringing this to my attention.

Huh, a bit of a dick move on Sega's part... (though well within their rights)

oh really? i didn't think sega would bother, i mean there are people out there modding sonic and sorr has been going on for 8 YEARS.

i think sega are jealous these guys did such a good job. and for free.

This. I mean it's an homage based on a game that no one is going to buy. In other words, they can still release SOR 1-3 on any store and people will buy it. The existence of this fanwank doesn't affect their sales, because this game doesn't exist. On the contrary, for those who are curious, it might make you look for the inspiration for such badassness and score a copy.

Glad I nabbed it, but that sux, especially after all the hard work. And here I was hoping they'd release a smart phone version.

Most of you probably know this already, but the fucking sweet music is available in the sound folder.

    yar i love the music.

what makes me lol is sega did nothing when they released versions 1, 2, 3 and 4. it was only after 5, and they said "thats it dudes, last one" then sega acted. i smell a theory.

Um, Smang..... where is SOR4? lol

BTW, I like your theory, but right now, I still trust these fans than Sega making a new SOR. Even if they were, this kind of fan hype would have helped bring the name back out.

remake version 4 you cheese. the one pulled is version 5.

sega "watched" 4 versions of remake over the last 8 years and said nothing as far as i can tell.

and i'm certain if sega made a new one it would be nowhere as good as this. i reckon they'll make them take out final fight references, and "unsuitable" elements (ash!) and release it themselves.
