Thanks for the knowledge drop. I honestly always thought Alpha 1 never got a lot of releases because of the base system having chain combos and no ISM stuff. Thank you for sharing this.

 

Menat actually looks very well done.
Lots of detail on all her outfits.
Lots of care put into her animation and design.

Design wise SFV is such a mess.
You have a beautiful character like Menat and then you have an abomination like banana-hair Ken.

 

I guess SF5 being so terrible does have its benefits. I've had plenty of time to play non-fighting games lately and finally play through a bunch of older games I never had time to get to before because SF4 usually was the only game I used to play. I also recently started playing ST again on fightcade. Going back to my roots and trying to relearn the game all over again. The game is truly a masterpiece imo and makes 5 look like an even bigger joke.

 

If you ever want to spar on Fightcade, lmk. My friends and I play the vs. games and whatnot on there all the time and even the Final Fight types of games.

 

I'm playing Menat and I kind of like her although I am soooooo not good with her.
And then I remembered there's a story mode for the new characters.
And then I remembered the story mode artwork is absolutely the worst bit of fecal matter ever seen in a Capcom game.


I mean, why draw faces when you get paid the same money for not drawing faces?

I'm so pumped for Zeku. Guy was my main in 4, I've been playing strictly Bison in 5, and since Zeku is Guy's former master, I will definitely be playing him day 1. I have not been this excited for any of the other DLC characters.

 

I was hoping for Gill.

 

So there are heavy implications that Zeku is the founder of the Striders. Besides the costumes, he actually shares various animations with Strider Hiryu. The most obvious being his jump. He does that crazy side flip. His bio also mentions he left after Guy became the 39th master of Bushinryu, and has returned to gather students for a new style he's developed.

That was never going to happen. They said from the beginning that Akuma was the only returning character this season. We should be getting at least one more season of characters. After that, it's all up to how much money it's making. The success of the Arcade Edition branding will probably be a major factor.

 

The only way I'll ever play this game again is if T.Hawk somehow miraculously joins the cast. Guess I'll have to wait for SF6 lol.

 

Yeah, I'm totally pumped for Zeku, too.
He looks familiar and new at the same time.
And his music is killer.

I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me if he shows up in a future "season."

 

Arcade Edition and some of the rumored off-line/single player content has me hyped. I understand the anger/disappointment with the bungled launch of the game and the terrible single player/off-line content BUT I don't get the negativity towards the game engine or the competitive scene. The V-Skill system if so much more fun then the SF4 Ultra/Focus Attack system. I loved watching tournament matches in IV but they're much more exciting in V. With IV it was nothing but pokes into link combos (along with boring vortex routines). You get more flash and more risky play in V. Someone correct me though, what are the gameplay issues with V?

I do wish higher skilled players used a wider variety of characters. Hopefully that changes over time.

 

X-Kira unearths classic Capcom character costumes for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition's Extra Battle mode
Datamining has revealed more info regarding the Extra Battle mode being added in the Arcade update.

Extra Battle will consist of a variety of challenges.
You unlock cosplay costumes, that dress characters up as other capcom characters.
These costumes give them new moves based on that character.
They can only be used in extra battle.
Playable NPC characters will eventually be added to extra battle. Including the Dolls.
A joke challenge has you fighting Sheng Long. A super hard boss that you cannot defeat, as he just gets back up.
Color edit is coming back. Each character is limited to two edit slots. One for P1 and on for P2.

One new character may have been revealed too.
Dan is getting a Donovan cosplay costume. It's in extra battle. So no idea if he'll only be available for that mode. Even if he is, I can't imagine it would stay that way.

 

Pretty cool news, really.
Of course, this is how the game should have released in the first place, but I'm not going to complain if we're getting it now.

I've also heard the rumor that Ken's Shinryuken will be +3 on block and +5 if he whiffs altogether. LMAO! (I'm kidding, of course.)

Have you guys seen Ed's story mode?
Not only is the art terrible, it seems that Capcom wanted Balrog's bizarre ending where he abducts a child with a glowing palm while asking the kid "What can you do for me?" to blossom into a full blown sexual relationship.


Seriously? What were they thinking here?

 

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if this was true lol. It would make perfect sense with the game sadly.

 

I had some satisfaction last night.
I played a Ken who did all the Ken tricks.

But somehow I was on point and managed to be ready for most of them.

I even did an aerial crush counter, Sledge Hammer, Knee Smash which I have never done outside of training.

I captured the video, but I need to get a good video editing software.

 

First season 3 character is Sakura, who has finally graduated out of high school:

We also got the silhouettes for the other five characters, the identities of whom will be revealed...

Now:

Blanka, Cody, Sagat, and new characters G and Falke.

Really looking forward to still not being able to play this damn game.
