Street Fighter Alpha finally hitting PSN on Thursday - Joystiq

It appears to be the PSOne version and not the arcade version. This is cool and all, but you can buy the SF Alpha Anthology for the PS2 for like $15 used. I mainly posted this as a warning not to be suckered in to buying this on the PSN. The anthology disc includes: Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Super Gem Fighter MiniMix. It's a much better value.

Another big thing against this - Alpha is essentially an unfinished game, not "complete" till the 2nd one came out right? They should have at least started with Alpha 2 Gold if not GOING FOR BROKE (lmaolmaoroflrofl) with 3.

But yes, I've had a lot of fun with the PS2 Anthology, wouldn't trade it for the world - unless they ever come up with arcade ports with online play or something, and you know Capcom - it's probably gonna have a handful more re-releases to come over the years

But if it's the PS1 version, I wonder if it's being released as a PS1 classic, thus playable on your PSP. If so, and if it's 5 bucks, I may get this.

I might pick it up. SF is available on PSP, but for 6 bucks a way to have a digital copy of it might be nice.

I have the Alpha anthology but I'll probably still get this for the PSP use and to support PSone games showing up on PSN.

I agree. I don't mind buying $6 PS one games on the store if they are good. A) They aren't expensive B) they are playable on PSP, and c) they let Sony know that "Yes, Dammit, we want more, and the bigger better ones, like the PSone FF series, and Chrono Cross and shit like that"

I wish it were Alpha 2 or 3, but I'll still buy it. I liked all the Alpha games, and my PS3 isn't backwards compatible, AND it should be playable on the PSP. If it were $10 or $15 I probably wouldn't, but at $5.99 it's basically an impulse purchase.

I'd say the only reason to pick it up would be to play it on your PSP through remote play.

...but I've already got the Alpha Anthology for PS2, and Alpha 3 Max on PSP. Sorry Sony, but at least you're trying. That's what I like about'cha.

Since it's a PS1 release, you dont need to play it Remote play, you can just copy it to your PSP :)

    Oh yeah.

You can't do that with PS1 disc games, can you?

Ehh, I think SFA2 and 3 added so much that I feel little desire to play this one.

Any PS1 game downloaded from PSN can be ported back and forth to your PSP (along with the saves). But as far as discs, you have to remote play that. So I have played FF7 from work, but using a Wifi connection and remote play, which isn't anywhere as clean as a full port, but definitely doable.

    It wasn't smang playing that.
    It was me.

Though Smang bought it and it was on his PS3
