    google brought up:

Red tint on monitor? - Tech Support Forum

All i can personally suggest is make sure all cables are connected perfectly and if possible make sure your video card is seated correctly, but im no expert in the field.

    Honestly,

It sounds like your monitor is starting to die. Most older tubes will start showing problems after a few years with normal use.

For trobleshooting try removing and reinserting all the cables,Video card and graphics card if you have one.

You can also try changing the resolution, refresh rate and colors.

You can also take it for inspection/diagnostics but it will run around 50+

I figured that but id rather wait and do a monitor swap and see if that is rather than waste $50 + if thats all it needs

as suddenly as the redness appeared it is gone and my monitor is normal again. very strange eh!
