GI Joe 2 Storm Shadow Returns - GI Joe News

Actor Lee Byung-hun will reprise his role as the character

Lee Byung-hun will again appear as Storm Shadow on the big screen when as-of-yet-untitled G.I. Joe sequel arrives, likely in 2012, The Hollywood Reporter claims.

Byung-hun played the ninja character in the 2009 film, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, though his fate appeared sealed following a battle with Snake Eyes (Ray Park).

It was recently announced that Stephen Sommers, the director of the original film, would not be returning for the sequel, currently in the scripting stages with Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick working on the first draft.

Additionally, the article states that production is planned to start this June and that the action sequel will target a fast-paced summer 2012 release.

Oh boy, how are they gonna explain this one, I'm so totally sure being stabbed and falling into the frozen artic water would mean he's dead.

My only guess is a cameo flashback or this is gonna be a reboot-sequel. That's actually good this time.

Nanomites make everything better. Just thaw him out, and shoot him up.

OR he just used his ninja training/skills to put himself into a coma state in order to survive his injuries & falling into the Arctic water

Good. I'm glad they're not just cancelling it, because it's salvagable.

Actually, in one issue of the Marvel comic, SS went into a coma-like state called the Sleeping Phoenix and lessened his injuries after Baroness shot him during the whole Springfield debacle.

most folks(non-fans of course) assumed he died just like most folks(non-fans of course again) assumed Tron/Rinzler died

then that's probably what they'll use to explain how he survived & returned for the sequel
