I was just driving by my old neighborhood which isn't too far from where I live now, and was looking at how the various plazas changed. I remember back in the day, my parents used to buy me G1 figures from stores that we had out here in LA like BEST, Service Merchandise and even at Mervyns. The plaza that had BEST is still called BEST Plaza but the actual store has long since become a Babies R Us. Its funny that even though I get most of my current TF's from Target, I never got G1 back in the day from there. I just miss some of these old stores that had G1. Anyone have any recollections of some their favorite stores to buy G1 from that went belly up?

    Ames

I can remember as a kid going there and getting my Stunticons! I doubt you will find one, I haven't seen one in 20 or so years.

My gawd- Kay-Bee Toys, Lionel Kiddie City, The Toy Works, all gone..

Sadly only Toys-R-Us is left to me, although I remember getting more G.I. Joe stuff there than anything, and that was rare. THey really dodn't build one close by untill my teenage years. (And I swear two-thirds of the store now is dedicated to baby stuff.)

Kmart, Kay Bees and Sears. I remember Sears having rows and rows of G1 toys.... we even used to order them from their catalogs.

    Woolworths and Zodiac toys.
Actually, I always remember this display/seating thing in the shopping centre here where as a kid I drooled over G1 Thundercracker in his box that my parents had just bought me. It was my first 'big' Transformer. That was way back when we used to come here on holiday (it's a seaside town) and now I live here. Many times I'll walk through that shopping centre and think of that old seating wotsit and that day.

Additionally I just remembered all these cool little gift/toy shops here that used to sell imported G1 at dirt cheap prices. Got my Fort Max that way, plus quite a lot of Beast Wars/Machines and RID figures that never made it over here officially.
Now all those shops are gone, replaced by clothes shops and places selling mobile phones. Why is it always bloody clothes and mobile phones shops?

KB is totally gone, none left. I remember back in the day I got a lot of my G1 toys there in the mall.

My fondest memory store is Lionel Kiddie City. THEY rocked in the day.

Honerable memories go to Bradlees and Caldor.

Longs drugs for me...it was right across the street from my mom's apartment.
I would go every day and check out gi joes and G1.
Also kmart (which was a big deal back then) now kmart is a ghetto dump, and longs is a furniture store.
I got my powermaster prime from kb toys in our local mall....now it is gone (the toy and the store)
