That to a slip up from my tax adjuster I sent mine immediately back to the IRS along with an extra $900. So that was pretty rad.
Same. The only thing I got really was a new entertainment center from Target for like 100 bucks. I heard a rumor though that they may be doing another stimulus check down the road. But it's just a rumor as far as I know.
The idea behind this was, basically, to make Americans feel good about the current state of affairs and spend the money frivolously. But how good can you feel about a piece of paper? Not very, if you ask me. I mean ... it's just a piece of paper. No. If they do this again, they need to hand out sacks of money instead. White ones, with a big green dollar sign on the front, filled with small denominations, so it seems like even more money.
I don't know about globally, but I know that my group of friends pretty much all either saved theirs, used it for gas or spent it on bills. Is it generally accepted that the stimulus check failed or does the government think it worked/did good?
Not sure, really. It might be too soon to tell, as it appears people are still getting theirs. But, as far as my circle of influence extends, it seems that everyone I know either put it into savings or put it into paying bills.
I feel somewhat like a bastard, because economically I am not feeling a damn thing. And even when my house lost 100k value and I couldn't sell it, the renting value went through the roof due to people needing homes and I was able to rent it out for a profit and I can maintain ownership until the market comes back years down the road. I don't make a lot of money but I do have a very clean efficient economic existence and wisely use my money. Having actual budgets written down for your income and expenses can greatly enhance your $$.
I just got mine last week. It's in my checking account. And, much to the dismay of the government, will simply cover personal debt.
I bought a PI924OLP 3in. EMP Enhanced 40cal. Springfield Armory Micro Pistol. Added Trijicon night sights, Shaved the trigger pull to 3lbs. bought extended mags, and a carbon fiber paddle holster. This is it check it out. http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=137 Also bought 2 boxes of ammo to fire down range in honor of squirrelcar.
I agree with both your statements, that the idea behind it, from the government's perspective, was basically just to spend it back to help raise the economy. Clearly, that didn't happen. And, along with myself, everyone who I know and spoke to, used said money on bills or debt. By simply stating this now, it makes me believe this is why they may be doing it again. When all else fails, I suppose.
I've gotta side with Lance on this one - if THIS is what they had handed out, I would have gone all goofy with the cash.
I got a big f*** you from the government since I was filed as a dependent. My dad also only got $300 because I was a dependent and over 17. Guess people over 17 who work don't count...
