Even if the movies could've been better, Jablonsky sure makes up for it with his epic scores!
His work was excellent. Love "The Battle" from DOTM
Steve Jablonsky sure is cool, but his work was entirly ruined by Michael Bays influence on the score.
Eeeeh. Steve Jablonskys stuff is 'alright' IMO.
He came up with a couple of decent themes in the '07 film, (Autobots, Arrival from Cybertron) but aside from them his work was derivative and repetitive. This was highlighted with the ROTF score, which upgraded the Autobot theme to Optimus' personal theme (hence its inclusion in the forest battle).
And really? I don't even remember the score to DOTM.
IMO, he's a poor mans Hans Zimmer. Having said that at one point Hans Zimmer was a poor mans composer (in the early 90's), but his stuff got better with every new film he scored. Give Jablonsky a few years and we'll see what he's capable of.
Nah, actually, I love Steve Jablonskys work on the Transformers movies and I think he is above Hans Zimmer. Is work with the Transformers score, expecially the first one, was truly iconic and honestly, its the best score I have ever heard in a movie. Sure, thats a personal preference thing, but for me, nothing beats the TF2007 score.
Here's to everyone's favorite knockoff of Harry Gregson-Willaims!
Who noone on this planet has ever heard of.
Did the scores for Enemy Of The State, Chronicles Of Narnia trilogy, Prometheus, etc.
His stuff is good, not great. My favorite piece (and my wife's!) is Scorponok.
I guarantee that you've heard his work. Would anyone here know Jablonsky if he hadn't worked on Transformers?
Why do we have so many of these Appreciation threads here? It's getting a bit annoying.
Anyhoo, I thought Jablonsky was ok. The '07 score was good, ROTF was basically the same but more repetitive, and DOTM was just a rip-off from Inception's score.
One of the only few ways to keep the movie forum going without repeating topics that have talked over since this site's formation. And how is DOTM's score ripped from Inception just because Hans Zimmer was Steve Jablonsky's idol?
And more applicably to my comment, Armageddeon and The Rock.
Funny thing, the score for DOTM was actually produced by Hans Zimmer, which could explain the similarities. Well, that and that Jablonsky has cribbed from Zimmer in the past.
Did you know about him doing that before Transformers? Do you know the composers on other similar shows? Do most fans of Desparate Housewives know him by name? That's the point I'm making here.
Every time I see an "Appreciation" thread I feel like someone is going to chant 2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate! (insert subject here)!!!
It sounds almost exactly the same. You can hear parts that are identical. Heck, a friend was doing a Powerpoint presentation and at the end I told him where he got the DOTM score from and he said it was from Inception.
5 Minutes of the DOTM score was a knock off of a piece of music that was only used for Inceptions Trailer, not even IN the movie itself. Big deal. The rest doesnt even sound remotely like Inception.
Right. I was surprised to see that the guy who did the awesome music for Rambo 4 is actually the guy behind the music for TFP!
