work in progress pics of the new series : frenzyrumble's Steampunk Revolution

EARLY WIP pic of Steampunk Soundwave. This alt mode is a result of Soundwave (main figure) COMBINED with Laserbeak & Buzzsaw (Gakugan ball) Frenzy and Ravage (Bakugan Trap) this is my first shot as using Bakugans as part of a custom.

The minions will form essential parts of the alt mode, as well as armor/weapons for the robot mode. The minions also have alt modes (frenzy = robot, ravage = cat, LB and BS = Vulture types)

Got a LOT of work to still go on this guy. The main steam pipe(s) on the top of this mech/tank vehicle flip around to Soundwave's back. I chose the Marvel Crossover hulk figure as the base because it's already got some great gear and cog details. will be adding tons of gadgets, wires, pipes, hoses, gears, detail and other stuff, hopefully making him completely unrecognizable.

I'll be interested to see this too. Is that where the bakugan (sp?) balls are going to stay..
The last picture kinda looks.. well.. Yeah it may just be my mind there...  

 

no, really - I appreciate you nonchalantly stating they resemble a (male reproductive organ) and I was thinking that also....I need to figure out a way to implement the set of balls so they don't look like a set of balls...

might have some sort of holster for them, so they are up higher and "float"...

 

This should make an awesome Soundwave, maybe able to fit into the Hearts of Steel asthetic? I'm still trying to figure out where all those pieces came from, especially those treads and the arm-looking parts.

Although I do reconize a steam engine boiler pointing straight up from the tank body, does this mean you've given up on MP Astrotrain?

 

You could place the balls up higher on some kind of rack, each on one side of the altmode, and then let them be some kind of cauldrons or boilers? Could finish it off with thick tubing connecting them to Soundwave, as well as smaller, thinner wires.

 

The thing about Bakugans is that they have interesting, but a small number of interesting shapes. I agree with most on the modding potential and I can't wait to see how you'll do your magic.

I'd a feeling this project will raise the standard on the boards to another level  

I wonder if there's anyway to play with 'smoke'? Like dry ice or similar. That was the first thing I thought when I saw the 'pipe organ' element. It'll be cool!

 

Definitely different. I've seen those Bakugans on the shelves but I've never given them a 2nd thought before. I'm guessing once you wave the magic wand over them, they won't look anything like a Bakugan  . When's that botmode coming?

What if you put one on each side (not directly hanging off the back and certainly not under that angled upward extending piece).

Like one above the left tread and one above the right tread.
I'm not terribly familiar with Bakugan stuff.. can you maybe like.. mistransform it into part of the tank or something?

If there are some bakugans that transform into cylinders, he could have a deathroller up front!

either that or stack them up near a cannon so they look like giant ammo?

 

Actually gonna use Blockrock for laserbeak, which comes with Blaster...

 

I was thinking the exact same thing, Ra. With some rivets painted around the circumference, these could really look like cauldrons or boilers. I think that's probably the best way to go.

Soundwave's "pipes" resemble an organ. Intentional perhaps?

I've been using Bakugan as minions for my Unicrons. I think they are better than the minicons since they are round and resemble moons.

 

I wonder if you could incorporate some hoses or something connecting them to the tank.. Then it really makes it look like they're feeding some steam to the device?
