Steam sorta tells you about it's latest deals when you start it up, doesn't it?

But if they're interested in the weekend deals, they'll check steam anyway, won't they?

Seems silly to seek out this thread to find out what will literally take you two clicks from your desktop.

All this thread has done is reminded me how much I need a new video card to actually play games from steam. EDIT: though it doesn't matter, apparently my Steam account has vanished. :/

I mean ya, they can but still why not have a thread for it.... Because after all Steam is amazing.
WOw... That sucks... I hope you didn't get it stolen like I did a long time ago.

Hmmm.... Don't you need a special driver to do so?

Thanks for the thread - I got the $9.99 deal on Stalker. I always meant to play it, and now I have a computer that actually can.

Not everyone knows about or has an account on Steam. Steam also doesn't always have weekend of midweek sales, sometimes they are completely different, like company specific daily sales through a one week period. No harm in letting people know about the deals they may be missing out on.

I agree. I hardly actually at Steam's site, I usually just play my games. Something like this is really helpful to me.

I have a question about steam, I'm not a member I was wondering about a pre-owned copy of Half Life 2 (some sort of special edition with extra counter striked stuff on it) someone offered me it says you have to sign up to steam to get it to play so here's the questions :

    1) Do you have to to stay online even to play the single player mode or is it just a registration thing the once.?
    2) Can you play PC Half Life 2 easily with a wired Xbox 360 pad ok ?
    3) If someone has previously registered the game on steam will it allow it to be installed on another computer an re-registered under another name and details even if someone has played it previously ?
    3)

1- No you don't have to be online, Steam can let you run your games in offline mode.
2- Yes, but its a terrible idea.
3- Steam games can be instaled without limit on as many PC's as you want, however they're tied to a Steam account. So if your friend is offering to sell you used copies of PC games they're going to be worthless to you without his steam account information. If he's willing to part with his account credentials you're all set, if not the games will know they're tied to his account and will not register to a new account.
