Well im not really a fan of the recent shows dude, but I know it bugged me to see Optimus come back in the 3rd season of G1. Now dont get me wrong...I LOVE Optimus, but it was Roddys turn at the wheel man! He was the chosen one. What bugged me even more is the fact NOTHING at all was said about it during or after "The Return of Optimus Prime" that would even suggest Optimus or Roddy had even discussed each others feelings on the matter. Thats like being made head honcho at the office your working at, and then being demoted a month later cause the old boss decided to come back without even saying anything! BS. :( ......but I do love Optimus :)

Yeah...there should be like a "Spark Re-Ignition" effects chart for the writters to use. Kinda like the old-school Dungeons &Dragons treasure charts. Everytime a character dies, one of the producers/writers rolls a die, and refers to the chart. With the possible consequences of death without re-ignition, a HORRIBLE side-effect, or no effect at all. :)

Yes. However most of the time, when you force the barrier of death to be a meaningless transition that is easily traversed...it fails. Even Tolkien was very carefull about how he explained the "afterlife" of the elves, and the fate of humans when they croke...imo.

Maybe because the fiction ended before they had a chance to cook up resurrections, but Blurr, Starscream, and Prowl (lolallsparkghost) were all seemingly iced in Animated.

Well to be fair, Dinobot, Optimus Primal, Tigatron and Airazor all die for good anyway, unless you count the comics.

optimus sure as hell didnt die for good. he came back as a transmetal, but he definitely died.

tigatron and ariazor came back as tigerhawk, so that only half counts.

and dinobot as dinobot 2.... so yea, half counts.

In Animated Blur died and didn't come back.

Normally i'd say that's a plus, giving the death more gravity but Blur was awesome!

It's important that once a character is killed off, they should remain dead. If they can come back to life.... what's the point?

When Prime was brought back at the end of season 3... I went nuts.... I cheered (because I loved Prime). Then as it went on I got the feeling that something was wrong. Optimus Prime felt out of place, out dated. Rebirth confirmed this thought.... as he didn't feel like he was even Prime any more. Years later, I guess I came to the conclusion that I felt robbed of a life less on death. It's important to know that those you look up to may die before you do, and you have to adapt and grow from the loss. Which I felt I was doing through season 3, in a removed from reality fashion.

Killing off Optimus in the movie may or may not have been a mistake.... but bringing him back to life definatly was a mistake.

Death in children's cartoons is a dicey proposition these days. I agree Blurr probably would have come back in Animated Season 4.

Spoiler for Transformers Prime: Nobody's gonna die for good in that show, either.

Its just a science fiction cliche. It happens in all the time, we just have to deal with it.

Tigatron and Airazor only died once - when they were obliterated as Tigerhawk. Before that, it was not made clear what had become of them, but ultimately it was revealed that they were alive as prisoners of the Vok.

The death / rebirth thing does not bother me. Ikkstakk is right though, it is a tricky subject to handle. Although I personally feel handled correctly, like Code of Hero, it would be perfectly acceptable.

I disagree with you there. I think cartoons get away with a lot more nowadays (you should see how much the Clone Wars gets away with) plus since Transformers are robots it makes it easier to kill them off. Most of the cast of BW were dead by the end of it. I don't really think there's been that much of dead guys being resurrected in TF's. There was the Unicron trilogy where everyone always got a new body after they died but that's because the Unicron trilogy was pretty much meant to just sell toys. And yeah Optimus came back in G1, and Megatron came back in ROTF but really you can't expect such big players to be gone for long
