One question for my canon story: Why is Starscream's Spark indestructable?

From what I remember his spark mutated, which made it indestructable. From that the maximals try to replicate another spark like his, that lead to the creation of Rampage

Neverfully explained. But before he was a ghost he was a whimp who couldn't stand pain, so he might not have known about his spark.

It was never fully explained in any official media that I recall.

That "explanation" could make for a good fan fiction.

He's just too darned stubborn to accept that he's dead, if you ask me.

maybe it happened when galvatron shot him. maybe it destabilised his spark ala beast megs in beast machines.

all i know is that he is the only tf to have had a ghost apart from alpha trion

Because it's a convenient way to explain why he still existed as a ghost using Beast Wars terminology.

I was being the sarcasm. :sly:

If you are asking for ideas, here's my take.

There were a few Transformers whose sparks were manipulated behind the scenes by The Fallen. Starscream was one of them. And, the Fallen did it in such a way that Starscream was unaware.
As a result, his spark does not become unstable and dissipate outside of his armor like the rest of his race.

Why would The Fallen do this? Why did he do anything he did?

The only thing that can destroy his spark is pure energon (see Rampage as an example).

Starscream did not realize he was imortal because his body still felt pain.
Rampage was shown to be able to feel pain, but he had an incredibly high tolerance to it.

Of course, my explanation only fits within Dreamwave continuity. But, the nearly indestructible Sunstorm kept calling Starscream "brother".

Hold on... wait a sec... Starscream was already a ghost in Season 3 of G1, right?

Also, in that episode, he possessed Cyclonus right? And then at the end, he swapped into Scourge? Was that ever resolved in another episode? Or are we to assume that Starscream took up permanent residence in Scourge?

I've never seen the BW episode (to my shame)... does that mean that Starscream has a mutant, ghostly, time-travelling spark as well??? :)

As for whether Starscream KNEW he had an indestructible spark... well, judging from the absolutely shameless, blatant, overt and repeated attempts to undermine and replace Megatron, I would say that the dude must have known... or had a death-wish... one or the other. ;)

Long story short: In the next episode, he gets Scourge to help him make a deal with Unicron to give him a new body in exchange for performing three labors (Unicron wanted Cybertron as his new body). Starscream delivers, Unicron gives him a body, but the Autobots blasted Unicron's head off the planet, sending Starscream into space as well. He passes Galvatron and the Decepticons, who blast him...and thats the last we see of him until BW, so we could assume Galvatron killed him again.

    Yes. He posesses Waspinator.

You can't create or destroy Starscream, it only transforms.

That's a good point. If he goes through the same time warp as the Maximals/Predacons as a bodyless spark, one would assume that he was killed again.

Has anyone thought of this- Starscream mentions that he was killed by Unicron while serving Galvatron. Let's ignore Galvatron and his death in the movie for a moment. Starscream ruined Unicron's plan to get a new body. Is it possible that after the Decepticons chased after Starscream, Unicron obliviated him Armada style? It'd be like Galvatron being swallowed for turning on Unicron. Or instead of killing Starcream, Unicron could have simply reversed what he did and just taken his body away leaving him to float around as a ghost in space again as a big FU. Perhaps his lie wasn't far off?

I've always assumed the Starscream in Armada was a descendant of the G1 Starscream, except for the fact that post G1 and pre BW related series are all alt. universes that are screwed up.

It was established by Blackarachnia that he was lying about that.

Anyway, I always found it a bit odd that Megatron in Beast Machines exhibited many of the same properties that Starscream's mutant spark possessed. His spark could move about freely of his own will, talk, and project a ghostly/holographic image of himself. And he could do all that even before his communion with the Oracle.
