Hey there. If anyone has asked about this before, please show me the thread. If not, has anyone else wondered why Starscream's Decepticon insignia is red - and not purple like all the other Decepticons? Is he secretly a Shattered Glass character or something..?

It's just a homage to movie Starscream, who also had a red symbol on his forehead.

Plut it fits with the red of his colorscheme better than a random purple.

I was thinking he joined the Autobots, defeated Optimus, and claimed to be the new Autobot leader.

There's not much particularly noteworthy about it, beyond that it's red. We've seen characters with Decepticon (or Autobot) insignias that were different from the traditional purple or red, but when it's a red 'con or purple 'bot insignia, suddenly it's time for WMG. I blame Shattered Glass.

    OF COURSE IT IS!!!!ONE1!

The small red insignia are probably a result of the aesthetic reasons but then again you can't deny that red and white/silver are the colours of SG Starscream.

But what could it foreshadow? The 'Cons turning good? lol SG 'Screamer is no fraction hopper.

As Shroobmaster said - Prime Starscream's chest is basically movie Starscream's head. And where movie starscream had a red insignia on his head, so, therefore does prime Starscream have one on his chest.

It's not like the insignias are very prominent in this series anyway, witha few exceptions they're not exactly front and center. Arcee's insignia is molded in the same blue of her body, Bulkhead's I can't find - and no one jumps to the conclusion that they're infiltrators or something.

Besides, if he betrayed the Cons for the Bots he'd have a red autobot insignia. It'd be a more apparent change had he started off with the purple, so the whole discussion is kindof moot. If it was some kind of foreshadowing, chances are they wouldn't have done it like that at all.

You know Starscream can't be trusted and will defect back to the Decepticons.

So it doesn't matter much. That or Bots with Red Isnigia in the Prime universe are part of Starscream's faction.

I think the movies have loosened up the faction colors a bit. Some of the movie bots have insignias that are just plain metal, and even the official art of the insignias in the movieverse are both grey. Prime seems to be following that style, where not everyone has a gigantic brightly colored symbol dead center on their chest.

Also, Arcee's Autobot logo is blue. ZOMGOSH HIDDEN MEANING!!1!!1!

But seriously, I find that in this show the characters' symbols match their color schemes, as opposed to being the traditional red or purple. Although Ratchet's is a completely different shade of red compared to his body, which breaks the scheme of things a bit.

Also, I find it hilarious that for the first time in forever, Hasbro is using red and purple for the toys' logos, when most of the time they're silver or match the characters' color schemes. It's like they mixed up Prime and Animated.

Why do people keep saying that Movie Starscream's symbol is red? Isn't it either some shade of very dark purple or simply black?

Honestly, I'm with you in that confusion. I thought it was black, too.

Hmm. You could be right, I can't find any clear pictures - knowing me, it's quite likely I'm mistaken. ;)

Now thet you mention it, you're right.

I think it's because a bunch of the eariler concepts featured red symbols.
