So I planned on doing some custom boxes for the rainmakers, I needed to do a mock-up test box to check the colors and to see any problems with the prints. I thought about that case fresh MISB Starscream I sold and will never replace. So I decided to make the first box as Starscream. Its just a mockup but it came out so good I am going to keep it and not bother making another. One thing I did was spice up the generally not so fresh colors of the Starscream artwork on the originals. I have pretty muched finished the rest of the seekers and rainmakers. Should have them done soon.

Wow, this looks sharp! What are you doing to make your boxes noticeably distinguishable from authentic pieces?

    Yeah, I think they're that good :)

Nice work. I like how you have made it easy to tell it is not an original by using sharper colours and making the yellow light behind Starscream a little smaller. It actually looks better than the original in my opinion. The old artwork was so washed out he almost blends into the packaging. This makes him stand out. I was drawn more to the artwork than the toy.

Thanks everyone. I should have the rest done soon.

Actually I was thinking about doing a Gigantic G1 box for masterpiece starscream. I can remove his tailfins which makes the box basically a simple upscale, I think it would be awesome.

Holding the boxes in your hand is a dead giveaway, the board I use is sturdier. But there is always something, like I will fix something I don't like. When I had my old sealed Starscream next to the other seekers, and soundwave and megs, the colors of his box looked washed out. The one I made is spot on with soundwave's box in colors. Or in the tech specs I will reverse the order of one sentence, or I will leave the case assortments off.

...also a great idea - if it were positioned in the window the same way, you could pop the whole hip kibble pieces off and jet mode would still look good. Making the display stand parts fit in there might be tricky, if you even bothered to do that. I'm still partial to the US Masterpiece Packages, though I wish starscream and skywarp's boxes matched each other. Something that could fit the whole tray from the Takara versions would be awesome too, with or without a window.

If I had an ounce of talent with graphics, I'd try this or something like the Classics SE boxes for the classics figures, but it isn't meant to be - I can manipulate cardboard and paper all day long, but I think kindergartners can do better image editing than I can.

While I really like the Hasbro Masterpiece Seeker boxes really well (and I rather enjoyed 20th Prime and DVD Prime's packages), I still prefer the TakaraTOMY packages for Masterpiece figures. The only thing I'd like more is if they'd have an opening flap on the front much like Hasbro's Universe Deluxes.

Thanks everyone, I just finished thundercracker and am almost done with Sunstorm, then I finish Dirge next and the targetmasters. Hopefully I'll have the finished boxes up Monday.
