well in the main I think most of the character traits were taken from the toys' tech specs.

Could be. But if I'm not too much mistaken, Wasn't SS a former scienctist in the War Within series too? I thought he was.

It was mentioned in 'Fire In The Sky' to explain how SS knew Skyfire prior to his crash on earth and was able to lure him into the Decepticon ranks. After that, it was never mentioned again.

    Edit: 500th post, heck yeah.

Bear in mind, War Within was written some 20 years after the episode that decided he was a scientist.

Made for interesting stories though, I'm sure the original writer is wearing a "high hand face" if he knows about the offspring of his creative mind's loinfruit.

Continuity and G1 often do not mix.

I've learned over the years that continuity and ANY of the TF series frequently do not mix. LOL.

Except for BW and BM. They reeked continuity.

    Well Beast Wars did anyway.

Except for the lovely question of 'how did Starscream's spark get into the past?'

"...beyond the reach of time itself!" Quoted from SS. Plus, there's a giant transwarp whole in space, set to prehistoric Earth's time, I'm sure it wasn't hard for him to drift into it at some point during his endless space sailing as a disembodied spark.
