So I was watching some earlier episodes on Netfilx and a thought came to my mind. Since Starscream always wanted to kill off Megatron while he was in stasis, and Starscream was worried about Soundwave being a pain in his back, why didn't he just have Soundwave killed?
Did you see how well Airachnid fared against Soundwave? Plus, Starscream wanted Megatron dead, but didn't want that to be known. Even for the Decepticons, it would be tough for them to follow Starscream when it's blatant that he sneakily killed both Soundwave and Megatron.
Are you kidding? Because Soundwave would absolutely destroy whoever tried to mess with him. Starscream has no hope of matching Soundwave in terms of force. The only thing he can do is try to peacefully negotiate, like he and Knock-Out did in Sick Mind.
Im pretty sure Soundwave means ''Completely Boss'' in Cybertronian. And Soundwave cant be physically over powered or out smarted or back stabbed or Sucked up to or Snuk around. And Starscream only being able to do two of those is pretty much screwed against Soundwave
Starscream would know that Soundwave is strong enough for anyone who would try to fight him. Breakdown would lose because he would try to use brute force against Soundwave, which wouldn't work. We already know Soundwave could beat Airachnid with ease. Knockout would be too careful about scratches on his paint. As for the Vehicons, well, that's just self-explanatory. Starscream could never take on Soundwave.
Might be, StarScream wanted Soundwave to work for him. As far, as I understad, SS has made a contribution to some SW's abilities. This device works perfectly.
At the point in time you mention that is a valid question. Since then its been established that taking out Soundwave is no small task.
Soundwave would have destroyed Starscream. But then he'd have to be incharge and the last thing he wants is to be the public face of the Decepticons.

Soundwave is implied to be close to if not as powerful as Megs/Optimus. Starscream has a reason to be afraid of him.
Starscream is not stupid, And even he managed to eliminate soundwave the repurcusions are very antagonistic to his ambitions. Since from what we have seen, Soundwave is the very core of decepticon loyalty. If Ss were to eliminate him, who knows how many cons will rebel against him. Anyway, Soundwave is a bigger asset than an obstacle, if starscream were able to manipulate him he would have even more power and allies.
