What is the relationship between these two characters beyond that of G1?
i think they were partners, no homo
Lol. Surely there is more to it.
No. There isn't.
They were just explorer buddies as far as I know.
Screamer is slightly feminine.......
Supposedly, before Megatron decided that the Autobots needed a good ass beating, Starscream and Jetfire were both Scientists in the same Expeditionary team known as the "Star Seekers" (which would later be shortened to "The Seekers" after Megatron came to Power) They visited the planet Earth to document Life on the planet 1 Million years before the Ark Crash-landed in the Cascades. While Flying over Antartica, Jetfire was hit by a Solar Flare and Was Knocked unconscious and was entombed in an Icy Chasm where he was found Five million years later by his former Comrade.
I totally just cobbled that together from War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, and the Episode "Fire in the Sky" from the Generation 1 Cartoon.
That's interesting about the background "War" and "Fall" tried to include. That was always the confusing part about "Fire in the Sky," how Starscream and Skyfire were connected to later events on Cybertron.
He is? I never got that.
You must be one of those Rule 34 guys, right?
Interesting history between two totally different characters. Is this explored further in any comics?
Honestly I think its a relationship that deserves to be revisited in either comics or a later show. G1 is, if nothing else, a bountiful vault of ideas to use in a later and better show since it hardly ever did anything with them.
No. It was really just a joke reply to that post.
In the Marvel Comics Continuity, Skyfire was Assembled by the Decepticons under Shockwave After Shockwave Personally Blitzed the Autobots. The "Left on Earth" story was abandoned in Favor of making it closer to the toy Bio where he was Built by the Autobots in order to Combat the Aerial Decepticons.
Good ideas, never fully realized. That's Generation 1, at least it's a decent description.
Absolutely, that episode had such unrealized potential regarding Screamer's origins and the reasons he is the way he is.
Everyone was kinda being inspired by Star Wars back then, this episode sort of reminded me of that in some ways. Megatron was the Emperor who wanted to turn Skyfire to the dark side and Starscream was Vader saying "Skyfire, you can destroy Megatron. Join me and together we can rule the Decepticons!" Lol
Yes, the Jetfire/Starscream relationship is one that has always had fascinating possibilities, and yet nobody has ever really come back to it and fleshed it out.
The original Bob Budiansky version of Jetfire was interesting but limited... somehow the idea of "Skyfire" being a former Decepticon seemed much more interesting.
Which is not to say that they should be "old lovers" or anything. But it's kind of interesting to imagine Starscream having actual friends at any time... it would be cool to see him at a point BEFORE he became quite so conniving and despicable.
No, Starscream has always been strongly associated with feminine qualities (largely negative ones, but still....). So don't be baiting now.
I would never bait...
A pretty typical TV trope: "Due to social stigmas against male femininity and 'unmanliness', there's a strong tendency in fiction to assign effeminate traits to villains: flamboyant mannerisms, delicate voices..."
Sound familiar? Lol
