Which was better? YOU DECIDE!
Both are good in my book.
Comparing those 2 is like comparing an apple and...uh...a steak. Yep.
I'm not deeply invested in either, but I prefer Star Trek.
I feel like Trek is better written with characters I care about while exploring the human condition. It makes Star Wars seem black & white. Plus I still watch TOS and TNG when they're on TV, while Spike's Star Wars marathons don't interest me.
I have a bad feeling about this thread...
I like Star Wars more than anything Star Trek has ever done until the '09 movie, which trumps all the Star Wars movies.
So, Star Wars.
Hmm, hard to decide. Star Wars has had its share of bad movies and TV shows, but so has Trek....
Ultimately, I'm going to go with Trek. Nothing against Star Wars, but it has only 3 good movies and one good mini-series, whereas there are 6 good Trek movies and a lot of good TV shows. Plus, I think the characters are a little more developed, and I also like the look of Trek a little more.
Star Trek Post 2008
I personally prefer the Star Trek series (not counting the newest film).
Well, overall Star Wars is far and away my preference, but it's tanking hard with this animated show garbage and I love where Trek is going with the '09 reboot.
So Star Wars gets my overall vote - still have hope for the franchise with the live action show, The Force Unleashed, and the Old Republic era stuff - but it's drifting in the wrong direction while Trek is doing things right.
I've always liked both, but Star Wars has always edged out Star Trek for me.
Then again, my affection for both franchises doesn't extend much past their 1980s incarnations, either, with rare exceptions (Tartakovsky's CW shorts, Abrams' Trek).
I love Star Wars, but I also love the original Star Trek with Shatner and Nimoy. Cannot stand TNG or anything else after, minus the new film which I adored because it got back to basics.
Both have their ups and downs. But I like Trek more.
Out before the flame wars begin.
I never liked either.
Star Wars I can appreciate for its effects. I've always liked model and stop-motion effects work. But the story never did anything for me. It's one of those things where its reputation precedes it. For me it didn't live up to the hype.
Star Trek seems a bit utopian, but like many utopias it always struck me as rather dull. Particularly the Next Generation. It's like a future with no culture. Everyone just goes around in naff uniforms.
But then that's just my impression. I never really watched it enough to form a judgement.
That's like comparing Bay to Bruckheimer.
Star Trek, hands down for me. I grew up on Star Wars, and I do enjoy it, but it doesn't even come close to Trek in my mind (except for the new Trek movie, Star Wars is far better than that abomination). But really, I don't know why people even talk about these two franchises in the same breath, they're just about as different as two sci-fi series set in space can be. I suppose it's just because they're so popular.
Star Wars is terrible.
I never got into Star Trek (the new movie was excellent, though), but watching Star Wars was almost inevitable for me. So my vote will go to Star Wars, even though I'm not really a big fan of either.
I prefer RC cola myself.
