So, my bud got me this for my birthday, and hasn't actually given it to me yet. I was checking out some sites, and noticed that the Hasbro page calls the tie fighters "Mini-cons" Is that just "random cross-genre marketing" at work, or do the ties actually have the mini-con posts?

I want to stick Ties on my Classics Bumblebee...

It's just a cross marketing thing, the TIE's do not have mini con ports.

Oh and BTW, this thing freakin' ROCKS!!! It pretty much makes up for how lacklustre the rest of the line was.

Yup I surely did. I pretty much dismantled the box searching for the cape as I've read elsewhere that it can be easy to miss. Alas, my Vader is capeless!

Whoever said that transforming this thing gives you a sense of accomplishment is totally right. I don't know what it is exactly but holding that finished perfectly round little ball in your hands is just some kind of rewarding. Read into that all you want.

i just realized something. for those complaining abt the price, is DSDV same price as unicron/primus for y'all? coz its cheaper than that here, just slightly more ex than a leader class:

    leader class: rm180
    dsdv: rm210
    unicron: rm250-280?

When Unicron came out in the UK, he was £45, Primus was £50, DSDV was £40.

Which makes him the cheapest planet former at release.

I almost didn't find my cape, its really sorta hidden in a straight plastic case on the right hand side of the box, it looked like just a black piece of plastic, so I missed it the first time around.

You thought the Millennium Falcon was lackluster? I loved it.

Ya know, I always forget about that one - I suppose it just didn't really interest me - but I was really referring to the standard size SWTF's. The only one out of those that impressed me was Darth Maul.

Woohoo! I found my cape! It took me 3 or 4 full inspections of the box to realize that the cape wasn't folded up and bagged like I thought but actually along that right interior of the box. Jeez.... they packed it so slim and black on black, no wonder people are having a hard time finding it.

On another note, just because I haven't noticed anyone else saying it... You can pretty easily and comfortably fit everything that he comes with into his alt mode. Mini-figs into their respective holds, 2 Tie-Fighters in one hanger compartment and 1 Tie-Fighter in the other. His blaster is integrated. The cape AND lightsaber fit pretty comfortably inside the sphere. I tucked the lightsaber in across Vaders lap (between his chest and folded up legs. There's enough of a diameter to the Deathstar to fit it easily without it bending. Also, there's enough room in those front corners for you to fold up his cape and fit it in too. All in all, very awesome.

Be ready to put your patience to the test.

I've had to fight myself to keep from throwing this thing out the window about a half a dozen times now.

The thing is, it's an obvious transformation, the panels just don't want to cooperate though!

I finally got it, you just gotta watch those parts on the inside to make sure you don't have them to where they get in the way of panels closing properly.

Heh, its like a Rubiks... uh... sphere.

I still remember a shop trying to sell RID stuff as puzzles. I was scratching my head over that one.

Man, good thing I didn't toss the box. I missed the cape completely! :lol

    ***EDIT***

Wow, this thing is just amazing. If you're going to only get one SWTF, get this one. It's the only one I own and it does nothing but amaze.

I think the thing that sealed the deal for me was the cape. That would've been my only gripe but since they even included that, I have nothing to complain about.

The thing is just that awesome.

I don't think I've ever cussed as much in my life ...as I just did while trying to transform Vader to the Deathstar. But once you do it, the thing is solid like a friggin rock! I love EVERY thing about this toy! :rock

Who knew that in the year of the long awaited live action movie, one of the standout toys would be a SWTF.

    WTF indeed.

^ Im going to take a shot at it, my ps skills arent up to boot lately. It would make a wicked battle scene though

Here's some planet mode pics. Too lazy to dig Unicron & Primus out so I just grabbed the nearest fig. Still can't get the front to seal up properly

It has 2 of these compartments for the TIE storage

CM you need to massage and caress him harder to get a firmer alt mode.
