Please note this is about the 2003 mini series, not the current series.

While the current series is great, I can't help but like this series more (the hand drawn animation is a plus in my book), plus it from the Creator of samurai Jack. (Another great show)

    My short two cents.

My opinion of this show has gradually deteriorated. It's still great, but it's almost too over-done. The Jedi are portrayed as Gods, the action is incredible, but almost silly sometimes. The VA, what little there is, really isn't that great.

It introduced me to Fordo. Hence it is automatically better than the current series.

A lot of the stuff was over the top, but it was still enjoyable. Grievous is still way better than his current iteration and I think whoever did the voice of Anakin in this series does a better Hayden impression than Matt Lanter who is doing the voice of the current Clone Wars Anakin.

Unfortunately said impression was too good, and he sounded bored and horrible. I like Matt more because he actually sounds like he gives a shit.

Also I didn't like the old CW Grievous because he was too insanely powerful. It begged two questions: 1. why has he not single-handedly won the Clone wars if he's that tough, and 2. why do the seperatists not just make more of him? Why can't they use the technology from him and give it to others? I prefer a Grievous who's still a threat, but can be beaten. To me Grievous is the Starscream of the Clone Wars Cartoon, and a super badass Starscream just isn't interesting.

I loved this series when it was on.I bought the DVDs "for my son" just so I could watch them.I might just have to watch these again now because it's been years.

    The Jedi are BADASS!
But a NEW villain is even more BADASS!
The Jedi defeat the villain because they are BADASS!

    etc. etc.

Personally, I find "BADASS!" to be unimaginably dull.

I liked the series (and still do to a degree), but Tartakovsky's "one vs many" fight choreography (same style as Samurai Jack and later Iron Man 2) REALLY doesn't translate well to Star Wars, and leaves us with one character taking down mobs of enemies to the point of being a bit silly. The worse offender (for me at least) is one towards the end where Shaak Ti has to hold off a good dozen or so Magnaguards. Yes, Shaak Ti is a Jedi Master, but Magnaguards aren't exactly pushovers (most of the time). Then of course there are the clones and General Grievous.

Still, gotta love that art style.

it was neat to see it, but to be honest it's hard to pass judgement, or compare it to the new version, with the episodes only being 5 minutes long.

they really had no time to develop anything. if it had, had full 30 minute episodes it'd be easier to choose.

but since it was nothing more then a bunch of shorts *that were later turned into 2 movies* it's hard to say. for shorts, they were good though.

Not bad, but I like the current Clone Wars the most.

I agree about Anakin, his voice really bugged me. (It was really whiny)

As for grevious that's kind of true, but he was more sinister than the current grevious.

I admit though, while book 2 (or season 2) was great and all it still couldn't live up to the previous season. (For example the battle on sullist)

This series also made me a huge clone trooper fan. (I loved the arc troopers, and that gunship they flew in)
