Interesting. The animated Clone Wars cartoons were the best things evah. I don't know if this new series can be as good.
Cool, I'm enough of a SW fan that I'll go and check it out. Who knows, if it winds up being huge, Hasbro might want to copy them and do a serious TF movie in good 3D animation. (maybe a return of the Beast Wars?)
I've given up on the books. I had big expectations for the post-NJO era since they finally tore up the status quo and got the younger characters in a position to take over, but they've just gone back into repeat cycle again and we've still got ageing OT characters saving the universe while the kids just seem to be around to give them something to do.
I think this looks pretty damn cool. I do like the new 3d animated style and I loved the clone wars from before. Not sure if I'm a fan of seeing it in the theater though. With an infant, its basically become impossible to go to the theaters and babysitters i trust are few and far between.
I'm not sure if I'd call him greedy. I mean, people keep buying what he's selling. If I was in his position I would keep pumping stuff out too. People seem to enjoy it.
The whole Confederacy uprising and Skywalker-relation-goes-dark-side business is being rehashed by the current novel series around 40ABY.
The Clone Wars cartoons did kick much ass. I still need to get the 2nd season. I will be seeing this new stuff. How many years took place between episode 2 and 3? Are there any new bad guys? I want to see Yoda kick some more ass!
i think they will throw in a bunch of sith's of course..........there are so many darth's in the comic books i have lost track.... food for thought? would people look so poorly on the actual lucas involved movies and story-arcs if the comics and books wern't so overtold and overdone in the past 10 years? Like if star wars never spawned a bajillion books and comic series, impossible scenario i know. But if the market wasn't flooded with star wars everything, you think people would like the prequels more?
Folks who follow the spin-off material are a reataively tiny share of the massive audience those films had, certainly a much smaller share then the total number of people who have dumped on them. Thats even before we get to the fact that Lucas doesen't need Bantham, Del Ray, Dark Horse or Lucasarts to make his modern work look bad. The terrible scripts, wooden acting and mediocre direction do that all by themselves.
Episode 1 and 2 should have been Episode 1. Clone Wars here should have been Episode 2. And Episode 3...should have just not pulled Anakin's walk to the darkside out of its ass.
Well we certainly didn't need 45 minutes of Podracing just to get off a planet. It would have been very different, but as a whole, the two basic plots could have been combined. It really could have just been finding Anakin in the first 30 minutes, then fast forward to mid teen Anakin and viola. Training/conflict happens here.
I'd ditch Qui-Gon and just go strait in with Anakin learning from Obi-Wan, or at least have Obi-Wan already a Knight and disovering a teen Anakin as a pilot. I would still have some sort of localised conflict in the first movie, just not one as lame as evil Chinese stereotypes using droids to invade a planet full of rich people and Jamacian frogmen over a trade arguement. There would be loads of them springing up across the galaxy as a result of a weak and corrupt Republic, which would somehow escalate between movies into the Clone Wars.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of box office this does. I'm not really a Star Wars fan, but I paid to see the recent three episodes in theaters out of sheer curiosity. I'll probably not be seeing this though. I'm not going to be fooled again into seeing anymore movies about this group of boring characters. Bring back the classic bunch!
I'd say skip Episode One. Start with what was 2 as EP 1. Make EP3 into EP2... and have 3 be about Vader, with Obi Wan trying to save him from the Dark Side.
