Dose anyone think it will happen Soon. What Direction would you like it to take if so?
I heard that someone was trying to develop one. But the premise was most rediculous thing Star Trek has ever produced.
Is that the one where the show is a prequel? Where the captain has a beagle and his first officer is a sexy Vulcan? Yeah, terrible idea. Glad it was scrapped.
No. It was about Romulan terrorists attacking the federation with Omega molecule bombs. Cutting off the large parts of the federation from each other.
i hope they do continue with what the movie started, a new time line and a basic reset to the whole thing
NO, NO, and NO!
Just because the movie is successful doesn't mean Trek should have new tv shows. This is exactly why the fans were burnt out on Trek in the early 2000's.
Just mash in Teen drama into a Starfleet Academy show.
If it takes off then those same actors can graduate to a proper trekking across the stars show or movies.
That was a cartoon that was being developed for the web, but I haven't heard anything on it in over a year. Looked interesting, sounded interesting - a captain of the starship Enterprise trying to pull the Federation together by appealing to that which had made it great, amongst a people who had forgotten what the word Federation stood for.
I say no to a new TV series. Movies with big budgets are a better idea.
Sure why not? Make new movies and new TV series. It's not like we have to watch them if they suck.
I agree whole heartedly that there shouldn't be another tv show. It should have stopped after DS9. Both Voyager and Enterprise were horrible. Please don't think that 3 times is a charm.
I don't think another live-action series is necessary by this point - I do believe at least one reason the franchise ended up in the hole it did pre-Abrams is that people just got burned out by one TV series AND movie after another.
Still, I wouldn't mind a decent animated series.
I think a new TV series would be overkill, like before. They should just stay focused on the new movies. I'm very interested in seeing what transpires next in this new timeline.
Isn't that basically Gene's Roddenberry's Andromeda smushed to fit the Startrek Universe? If it would have been anything like that, it would have been painful to watch.
I certainly hope not.
I'd bee all for it just so long as its not some alt universe and/or prequal just set it after Voyager and I'm good to go
I think we need 1 new Trek Series out there to keep. I for one loved watching back to back to Backs of DS9, Voyager and TNG. Anyway 1 new Series is better than none in my book. Waiting a year or 2 in between Movies is RIDICULOUS.
There will be another eventually.
Personally, I'd like to see a series set another couple of hundred years after TNG, neither accepting or denying anything that went before but just making it a fresh start, all new cast, minimal connections to what went before. Perhaps actually let Starfleet be less than whiter than white this time, so that the Federation has crumbled a little, getting the Klingons back to semi-antagonists and stuff. Show that mankind is still boldly going out there, get back to the original spirit. No space-station based action (though it was good), no long voyage home, no massive ongoing story arcs than span multiple seasons. Just a complete back-to-basics take on things, like Next Generation was to the Original Series.
Ehhh. They way they set it up says no. Not right now.
Maybe after a couple of movies.
Who knows? I've already converted two non-Trekkers so far. If this movie manages to get people interested in Star Trek, why not.
