Did anyone give this game a shot? It's based off the old Atari game of the same name. I know Yars was a bit disappointing, but I wonder if a space shooter might be a bit more difficult to screw up.

The original Atari game had some cool features for its time. Shields, Starmaps, warping around space.

I think I saw it on Steam this morning as well. I'll probably grab it on Live today when I get home. I've been in the mood to play either DarkStar One or a new space combat game.

Ok, that said, how is Darkstar One on 360? I played it on Steam and it was good, but the controls were a bit tough. Then I saw it on 360 and thought about buying it.. but then another game came out, and I bought that instead. lol. What a stupid story, hahaha.

I thought it was pretty decent. It is a bit generic compared to Freelancer or X3, but I thought it was fun and I'd recommend it if you find it on the cheap.

    Didn't get it.
This really HAWT d00d posted a video on the Facebook that left me whelmed.
    Probably won't get it.

    I watched the video.
It looks like you're sort of floating through space shooting at triangles.

It mostly looks like Sylpheed and I passed on that too.

Developers need to learn how to make an effective HUD for space shooters that doesn't get in the way of the game.

Yeah, thanks for the video. You saved me 15 bucks. I guess some games should stay in the past :(

I just don't understand why their updating these games without any of the spirit of the originals at all.

I know there's a lot of room for interpretation for things from the Atari era, but with Yars and now Star Raiders they could have called these games Space Chix and Outer Space Adventure and we would have been none the wiser.

I know exactly how I would have modernized Yars revenge. One of many ways. And all of those ways would have still carried the spirit of the original game. Lost chance Atari.
