    Anyone pick this up today?
IGN says it should have been released today but no stores in my city seemed to have got any in.

Don't worry Badrock, you aren't alone in this Thread. I want to buy this game and I probably will this weekend, but I have to pick up Killzone first. I went to Gamecrazy on Monday and I would have picked it up but it was their last copy and it was a presell.

I love the SO series, and this one can't be missed.

If I ever get a 360 and finish the third one, I'll have to think about it, though I don't like the realism. Not with the mixture of surreal anime style animal girls and what-not. I'd have preferred either an anime style of graphics, with the animal girls like SO3, or the realism of this with hi-tech Star Trek class stuff. Which I guess is what we have, I'm just not a fan of the art style.

Im on the fence for this one. I'm not a big JRPG gamer but I make the exceptions every now and then. Star Ocean has always kept my interest with the science fiction that goes on, but when I play through them the way they're played drives me nuts. It's like I know to what goes on in Star Ocean, but I dont want to play through it. I'm still barrowing 1st Departure but I'm just not that all into going through it, but yet I want to know what will happen.

I do like the way Star Ocean does it's combat, with it's more action like controls instead of menus.

Finally found a copy. Apparently a lot of shipments were delayed in Canada.

I can't tell you how badly I wanted to buy this and Killzone last night, but Oprah said I should save money.

My review is that i'm loving it. First hour was kinda boring but that seems pretty standard for me in RPGs. When I finally got onto the first planet though it picked up.

That's ok. Star Oceans are known for slow starts.

The battle controls were a bit weird too, default is A = attack, B = jump and X = Rush mode. Changed it to X = attack, A = jump and B = Rush mode and it seems to work a lot better for me.

I would be interested, but after the clusterf**k that 3 was, I like to pretend that SO was only two games.

It looks interesting. I'm checking some reviews before I throw it on my list.

Well I got to Disc 2 and am loving the game, but the main character seems to be turning emo. Oh and I dunno if its the game or my 360 but it has now started freezing on me. Looking online it seems other people are having the same problem but still no idea if its the game or the common RRoD suiting up for a show.

Probably the next game I'll get. Supposed to be really good, but with a slow start and some unpurposely funny cutscenes. Beating it on Chaos is going to be rough and tons of collectathon achievements, it's going to be a long ride

Star Ocean titles are notorious for having freeze ups. Star Ocean 2 and 3 both had them. Not sure about the first one, never encountered anything in the PSP remake.

Out of curiosity, since I'm a way off moving onto current gen, how does the story tie in to the others? Any reference to an Earth ship called Discovery?

Not yet. To be honest I haven't played the other Star Oceans in such a long time that I am most likely missing all the references.

If you're talking about the music level actually drowning out the dialogue at times, then yeah, I'd agree.

    I meant two things, actually.

That awful excuse of a story and running out of MP KILLING YOU.

It's several hundred years prior to I or II.
