well, i noticed a distinct lack of lylat chatter on this board. this thread my die, but at least i'll have a place to talk about this awesome series. i've always considered star fox 64 to be my favorite game, it never gets old. the ability to play it different every time is such fun! i love the independence day reference in the reunion level. "the core has appeared!" "so andross, you show your true form!" "only I have the brains to rule the lylat system!" anyone else have fond memories of the snes, nintendo 64, gamecube, ds star fox games?
I've only ever played Lylat Wars 64 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I never knew what requirements were needed to alter your path through the single player campaign as I tended to always play the same levels and never got a chance to see the others. I can enver remember all the crew though, there was a Frog, a Fox, a Falcon and what was that last one...a Donkey?
I Loved Starfox 64 one of my most favorite games to this day. a shame I dont have my old 64 anymore though
I've played 64, Adventures, Assault, and Command. 64 was awesome, Adventures and Assault are my favorites, and Command is meh. As for Adventures and Assault, I liked Assault better, gameplay wise, but Adventures, everything else wise.
I enjoy the games though I only have the console games so far, there should be an Arwing-esque Transformer, Legends ROTF Megatron is a Landmaster basically, so it's possible...
I thought the first Starfox was incredible, and still stands as one of my favorites. Starfox 64 was better in most ways, but for some reason Nintendo dropped the great music from the first, and I was annoyed by the escort mission. Too bad that beyond Starfox 64 there really isn't much to write home about for this seris. So, before Starfox 64 came out, I imported the japanese one. With a simple adapter it worked just fine, but of course all the voices were in Japanese. So, when the English one was finally released, I rented it, and actually switched the chips so the Japanese one was in the English plastic casing. They both worked, but of course I returned the Japanese one back to Blockbuster. I know, it was a stupid thing to do, but I was a broke teen and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
It was a fine series until Rare touched it and brought in the furry legion. That's all I have to say on the matter.
Fandom, given long enough, it will boil down to "I don't like the new ones!" vs. "I don't like these parts of the entire thing!"
One of the first N64 games I bought on the Wii. Now I need to hunt down that old GC game. I loved Star Fox since the Super Nintendo one (when I thought that if I beat it, Centari would come to earth and take me to fight along Starfox, just because the game looked like the Last Starfighter). I personally even loved the Starfox adventure game for the Cube. Long live Mcloud.... Death to Slippy...."WHOA, HELP MEEEEE!"
I sorta like Star Fox...sorta... BUT seeing as my Avi and Sig are SF:64, it's one of my favorite all time games. Star Fox Assault comes in second for me seeing as it wasn't that bad. Adventures was meh, Command had great story but gameplay sorta sucked. Star Fox 64 was kick ass none the less.
I remember how revolutionary Star Fox was on the Super NES. Looks and plays like poo today, of course.
I couldn't agree more if I tried. Rareware rarely makes mistakes (no pun intended), but to me, Adventures was terrible.
Starfox 64 was so cool. I would rent an N64 from Blockbuster (parents wouldnt allow me to keep a console system) just so I could in turn rent Starfox 64 & Goldeneye. When I discovered that I could fly the Arwing in first person, it's like I crapped my pants and enjoyed the game even more. If only I could get a full Arwing simulator where I dont have to hit a button combo to do a corkscrew... I mean barrow roll. I only played Starfox Adventures once. That was because a friend of mine has the reflexes of a drunk slug and he wanted me to beat some sort of racing sequence for him. Got that done on my 1st try but never played much else. I have nothing against the game, it just seems to of fallen off my radar. I got to play Starfox Assault only once or twice as well. I liked the missions where you could switch from being on foot and then jump into your jet, or tank, or whatever. The battles seemed pretty chatoic. Also thanks to the powers of THE INTERNET and emulators I was able to beat the crap outta the orignal Starfox. Problem when I played that though is that I wasnt able to press down and right at the time, had to with the keyboard I was playing on I think. That made certain dodges rather complicated, I would usually need to tap down and right really quick, or just dodge in a different direction.
Oh they make mistakes alright. Their entire venture into the original Xbox was a joke worth telling to your drunken buddies on a Friday night after eating wings and pizza, and puking in the back seat of their cars because you were laughing so hard at a joke about a prostitute.
Don't forget the 360 with Perfect Dark Zero and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts...it makes me sad how Rare makes crappy games now.
Adventure was a nice game, it lacked flying what SF is mostly about but to say the game is bad is imo just BS. I dont think it got a low score or bad comments in any rewievs. Assult is great on a big screen and 4 players. Lylat Wars as SF64 was named in europe is great but the none saving of your medals are just bad. Best thing in the whole game..hitting all train towers and send the train straight into BABOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM
