I was walking around in Akihabara when I found Star Convoy - definitely a great Micromaster/minicon base.

I am also happy to finally own Micromaster Hot Rod :D

He's an awesome piece. I personally prefer Dai Atlas, though they are both great representatives of the transforming Micromaster bases Japan came out with.

Can't argue with that Hot Rod, either. He joins Tote and the other guys I used to call Micromaster versions of the G1 cast when I was a kid.

I think he's one of my favorite recent additions... such a great brick bot.

I just got Star Convoy a few weeks ago. I wish he had better articulation.

Actually, by the time he came out, Takara was on Fighbird. Exkaiser, the first Brave show, started up in 1990 I think. They were still doing TFs as well, so you see some interesting cross pollination on the designs. Like the Turbomasters and Da Garn all having gorgeous light piped eyes, or Sky Garry's general Fighbird-ish design.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

I'm in Japan on business, I am the project manager for a company. If you look at my post history, it was a lot of stress last week just thinking about it - now I've kinda gotten used to it.

The site will be updated more frequently (Think daily) once I get my flash fixed (I stupidly broke it the other day while doing the Star Convoy gallery). I actually have a minicon sitting in front of me that is really cool and flew under the radar when it was released.

Thanks for sharing this. I find it interesting that Star Convoy isn't a cab-over semi - seems like an interesting counter to the 'But Prime was a cab-over semi!' whining.

Star Convoy rules! I never could buy into the "brick" arguement. Even most of the highly hailed articulated beasts are "bricks" too in beast mode. Star Convoy represents the state of the art for that era, nothing more, nothing less.

Hey guy, I'm here for a week on vacation. Probably doing Akihabara on Wednesday. Drop me a PM if you wanna do some toy shopping and wouldn't mind showing me around.
