    $50 is a great price. It's a rare toy...... however demand for it has nosedived becasue of the reissue;

    The reasons being the reissue has gold chrome on the chest where the original has a flat yellow. Also the reissue has a silver trailer, where it's a flat color (light grey or white) on the reissue.

    The other part of the question,i'm not sure about. the answer.

    The reissue also has a different tint to the clear plastic, and the decals on Hot Rod are now painted on / preapplied. I believe it was said around the time of release that the reissue Star Convoy was closer to the original concept of the toy. That's an excellent price for the vintage, though, if you want it as a piece of Transformers history.

    $50.00 for an original Star Convoy is an excellent deal. Get it if you haven't, its well worth iti. I would say the value for a boxed one is anywhere between $150.00 to $200.00. I got mines MIB at $190.00 shipped.

    That's the reissue, 90% certain. You can just about see the crest on his chest in that image (in the gap behind the cab). It looks far too shiny to be the vintage one's flat yellow.
    Also, the silvery look of the main portion seems closer to the new one than the original.

    It's the reissue for sure. The original has no grey whatsoever.

    The reissue looks far superior to the original IMHO. I don't regret getting him all. He graces my desk next to MP Convoy and OPOP.

    $50 is great price, reissue or not. As for the G2 primes, the tanker Prime was just reissued and is still in stock most places, usually around $60 I think. Not sure about the other one though.

    On Ebay and yahoo auctions Japan I have been seeing the original go for $70 sometimes. The value really fallen on it...

    In the bad old days he would go for $400 sometimes.

    Yeah, pre-reissue the vintage would command a huge pricetag. Don't wait too long, once the reissue becomes more scarce demand will build and prices will climb, slowly but surely.

    I've already seen some unscrupulous person trying to sell the reissue for £100 at the last Memorabilia exhibition in Birmingham. I got mine for retail price (plus postage) when he first came out. Originally I wasn't going to bother, as I didn't think he looked that great. The changes to his colours for the reissue made a massive difference and the MM Hot Rod really swung it for me. I'm glad I bought him now, as he actually looks great and has quite a large number of nifty features.

    Original or not, I recommend him. In fact, I'd take the reissue over the original easily.
