I own the 1986 Transformers Film and I am a huge fan of the soundtrack. I'm Listening to the Soundtracks from all the movies and I was wondering.

Do You Like Stan Bush or Linkin Park as the band for Transformers movies?

    Also give the name of
    1. Your favorite version of the TF theme (and the band)
    2. The song and band that has done transformers music before.
    3 Favorite Orchestral song

    I like Stan Bush
    The lion TF theme
    and the Unicron Medly.

    How about "neither"?

Stan is a relic of cheesy pretentious 1980s "power rock".

Linkin Park are a pretentious Nu Metal band.

I guess modern (European-style) power metal or symphonic metal would be a little too niche for a blockbuster movie...

    I agree.

I wish that they had gotten Bear McCreary (Nu-BSG) to do the music for the live action movies. His work incorporated various styles, and some of his pieces have more of a "band" oriented approach.

Out of the 2, Stan Bush EVERY time. I loathe Linkin Park.
Having said that, I would MUCH rather hear a decent selection of electronic music as a soundtrack for a Transformers movie.

I really don't like Linkin Park, but they get the upper hand here. Stan Bush's music just does not fit with war robots.

Love Linkin Park and love the songs that have been featured in the movies (so far that is). I love that one of my favorite bands is featured in the movie versions of my favorite hobby.

    1) Van Canto rule ("Battery" anyone?)

    2) Judas Priest should take over.

I don't really view Linkin Park's songs from the movies as themes, per se. Listen to the lyrics, nothing to do with the movie they are in. If we're going by themes, I stand that the PS2 game Transformers: Call of the Future has the best theme.

And comparing LP to Stan Bush is like comparing Tool to Pink Floyd. Both wrote good songs, both fit their time period, and both will be iconized and emulated by others. Same with LP and SB, they both did works that fit the media they were chosen for, and neither can be termed "best" unless you have more of a series preference.

Allow me to help you: the band that played 'Hunger' are actually called 'Kick-Axe' (the name was changed on the album without their knowledge.) are I believe a still going band playing in pubs and clubs around the United States.

I do however, agree with your sentiment, Hunger is a BITCHIN' song.

    OP

Each of the two musical selections on offer fit in their respective canon, frankly I cannot see Linkin Park creating a song that while filled the brim with cheese, can still stir such feelings of unabashed, unfiltered heroism as 'The Touch' does. Its probably just grandfather clause, but when that song starts up in TF The Movie, it becomes, without question, G1 Optimus Prime's finest hour.

I have no particular dislike of Linkin Park, and I thought that New Divide was an okay song on its own merit, and Kickback made that bitching AMV about Armada Starscream with 'Numb' a while back so I can't say it doesn't fit.

I don't like the newer songs of Linkin Park, only the older ones. But I prefer them much over Stan Bush.

My favourite Transformers Version is the one by Black Lab and my own version.
My favourite orchestral music piece at the moment is the medley of Symphonic Fantasies, featuring the song of Sephiroth "One Winged Angel". My all time favourite orchestral song is of course "Imperial March" :)

I propose Evanescence, Samsa's Traum, ASP, Nightwish or alternatively: What about industrial rock? Like Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy, Type O Negative? :)

Neither. Stan's genre is dead and gone, while Linkin Park is a disgrace to the genre it's in.

If the franchise needs a musical "voice", it should be robotic at heart. Industrial metal...?
