This sounds like a completely frivolous lawsuit. I'm not a huge fan of Disney as a company, but I highly doubt they would have risked a lawsuit like this by not ensuring that they own the rights. Disney is not stupid and they are incredibly hard to sue if your goal is to get money out of them. I don't see this ending well for Stan Lee Media.

    Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

My brain keeps trying to overwrite the knowledge that D*sney owns Marvel.

Imma go read some Crossgen or something.

    (Don't say it)

I'd find this somewhat less ironic and frivolous if the name of the firm wasn't a man who basically helped perpetuate a system where comic creators didn't retain ownership of and equity in the properties they produced.

But yeah, I don't expect this suit to go anywhere.

Agreed, and like you, I don't expect it to get anywhere.

It's a company that is no longer affiliated with Stan Lee and being that it's going against one of the biggest companies in the world, I doubt they'll get even a penny.

They've sued Marvel and lost, they sued Stan lee and loss, they claimed they owned Conan, they lost. It's basically one of those companies that lost all their money in the Dot com bubble and now goes around suing people.

Stan Lee isn't a part of them anymore? I don't know why this is worth mentioning then. As I recall, someone on the TFCC forums once posts they were mad about the Marvel/Disney merger.

Unfortunatly, the real Stan Lee's name is still part of the company's name. This means that 99% of people that see this headline will think the guy who created Spiderman/Avengers (and has had cameos in most of Marvel's movies) is suing Disney. Biting the hand that feeds him, in their view. It is harming his 'cred' to the general public. I think its safe to say that if the general public knows 1 name of a person involved in the creation of comics, its Stan Lee.

I think Stan Lee nees to stick it to the Stan Lee Entertainment company. Have a press release where he says he approves 100% of Disney's actions. Might not hold up in court but it sure goes a long way in the court of public opinion.

Yeah I think Stan the Man oughta sue these guys.

I'm thinking that's one lawsuit that might win.

If anything, he might be able to sue to take his name out of the company's name.

Too late Stan, once Disney gets Rights to something that makes money they never let it go.

Did you read the article? Stan lee has nothing to do with this company anymore. He isn't the one suing.
