Comixology can eat a **** as far as I'm concerned. My phone battery can drain completely while waiting for it to update, and it now crashes any time I try to download or read anything.

I liked it when it first debuted, but between the fact I couldn't read any of my comics while I was abroad last summer, combined with how unstable and SLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW it has become, I am done with it.

Funny that, I've had nothing but a great experience with the service.

Any chance it's your phone thats the issue?

Comixology has worked perfectly with both my phone and my PC.

Yeah, this has been available for ages. All my Comixology comics are the "free" ones - issue #1's to most of the older Batman comic series (e.g. LOTDK, SOTB) are all free too!

Southtown- sounds like a problem with your phone. not enough memory to hold the comic maybe? I have no problems with my desktop - but my kids elocity 7" androids can't seem to l handle a normal sized comic. I can read Autocracy fine, but the Spotlight shockwave would always idle on while downloading the second half of the comic.

Throwing in to say that it all works fine on my end too. Sounds like a phone problem.

I've been checking out the free stuff, some of it's pretty cool.

heheh- i have some money left in my paypal was thinking of buying one of the smaller series digitally- eventually when money is better i will buy the hardcover TF volumes 1-4 (i have everything AHM forward)

but in the meantime i was thinking Maximum Dinobots, Megatron Origins, Drift, or maybe just 5 of the spotlights.

I figured i would stay away from the -tions cause they will be collected fine in the hardcovers and seem to be somewhat sequential from one to the next.

i gather from this Megatron Origins is a pass-

is maximum dinobots a good read?

Thought Drift might be a nice choice too as it ties into MTMTE (thinking about it more that may be where i funnel 8 bucks.)

is there any selection of 5-6 spotlights that people would be willing to suggest- i dig Cyclonus for what its worth- is his spotlight good?

    derailing my own thread- geez!

Creaky- any free titles you would recommend?

I've never had a problem with Comixology on my phone either. Sounds like you have an incompatible phone and/or bad luck, SouthtownKid.

As for Spotlights, Kup and Blurr are generally well-regarded, and I enjoyed Drift and Blaster as well. The Drift mini is probably a good choice to read, since it gives some insight into the NAILs and the myth of the Knights of Cybertron.

Personally I thought Maximum Dinobots was boring, but I'm not a fan of the Dinobots so that probably colors my opinion a lot...

I've been using ComiXology for years, on many different devices, and I've never had a problem. If battery life is the issue I'm guessing it's an Android device.

Anyway, Spotlight Shockwave is awesome. That free issue is single-handedly responsible for getting me into the IDW stuff, and even digital comics in general.

When I think of the spotlights, Spotlight Wheelie comes to mind. Best coolest frigging spotlight ever.
Even diehard Wheelie-bashers enjoy that spotlight.

It's an iPhone, but whenever I launch comixology, it takes a quarter of an hour or more to update publishers, everything runs super slow during that time, and if I do manage to open a comic, the it crashes a few pages in.

It's an older iPhone... a 3G... but when comixology first debuted, it worked fine and I recommended comixology to everyone. Now it's too much of a hassle to use. Maybe when I get a new phone.

You must be running a very old version of the software then, because there are no more publisher updates.
