The only thing I don't like is his expression. He looks almost like a cross between and old man and a puppy that knows he did something bad and is about to get in trouble. Otherwise I like it, I'm quickly becoming a fan of EJ Su's artwork.

I love when they use toy designs in comics and vice versa.

And he does look like he knows he did something bad...but maybe he actually did.

I haven't kept up on my TF comics, but I'm going to have to hunt down the TPB versions of what I've missed so far.

Yeah, EJ's work has definitely been getting better and better. I've missed his stuff really. I'm very happy to see him back into the TF fold.

Love the toy design and how it translates to the comic well. Looking forward to this comic book very much.

His drawings look like Autocad drawings, they lack an artist's personal touch. His technique is unquestionable, though.

Holy bad proportions, Batman. Look at the width of just half of the vehicle back window in relation to the human laying near it. The backseat would fit about 6 people wide. Comfortably. And what's with the face? This type of lackluster art is why I stopped buying TF comics.

That's because this cover was already posted last month as part of IDW's April solicits at Comics Continuum. That said, this version of the pic is different in that it is free of lettering.

He's doing the interiors too, and Nick Roche will be doing the art on the alternate cover.

Ok. It's not terrible, and it's not Nick Roche. This is perfectly adequate art if the story's good.

So a great opportunity to explain what has happened to Prowl (the Autobot, not our dear Mod :D ). I really hope they don't waste it.

As for size, mass-shifting? As for the expression, it sure beats "Dull Surprise".

while (as with most Su's work) the rendering and mechanical details are nice, what weirds me out is the way the legs are in a 'worms eye view' perspective but the arms and upper torso are drawn more straight on: there's a ton of foreshortening on the legs, but none on the arms: his hands and forearms should be larger than his shoulders, not the other way around. AND the left arm shouldn't be that much longer then the right (his shoulders look fairly square to me, so it should actually be shorter in perspective, but even if he's 'slumping' that shoulder it wouldn't be that much longer) ...and since he's leaning back and in perspective you should more be seeing the underside of his hood then the front of it.

and since you mentioned it, LOL at the mini-humans: i didn't catch that.

Nice composition and sweet colors though: i really like the painterly brushstrokes on the rendering of the Statue of Liberty. (obvious "you bastards" jokes aside ;) )
