Thanks for pointing out the mistake! Also realize stories coming up in AHM! will probably need to be placed at different intervals. Through 13 all flow after each other but I bet the Sunstreaker story will not.

Wait what? Dreamwave comics such as The War Within and the Summer Special have NOTHING TO DO with IDW comics continuity WHATSOEVER. Even Beast Wars has different divergent continuities, so you can't assume Dreamwave's one sole BW storyline is part of IDW's storyline.

Also, you have a bunch of stuff placed in the wrong order.

    Sigh

Look I'm not wanting to start a flame war. I disagree with some of your placement too.

Also the inclusion of the Dreamwave stuff is up to opinion. Nothing so far has ruled out the inclusion of the The War Within, or the placement of the one DW Beast Wars story. After all to get most of the Beast Wars stuff you actually need to be able to understand Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, and Beast Wars Neo, plus the IDW series is very similar to what Furman planned for the DW Beast Wars series.

The one I will agree with is the Soundwave Spotlight should be moved to before Transformers #0. The Ultra Magnus, could be either way.

Other then that ... get off your high horse.

Also I've been on the TF Wiki and while a great resource not all its facts are correct either. They attributed the writing of the Drift one shot to the wrong person until I corrected it.

All such timelines, like mine or the one you posted are open to opinion. I put mine up as a reading suggestion. It was done for a friend who I got all the IDW and DW comics for.

Really, the best order to read them in is the order they were published in.

Also, I would dispute that Maximum Dinobots and Revelations take place at the same time - how can Hot Rod be in two places at once, being beaten into the dirt by Scorponok and also dealing with Doubledealer / the Magnificence?

The War Within was created for the Dreamwave continuity where evidence of Primus existed and Unicron was hinted at. However, Furman said that his IDW universe didn't have Primus nor Unicron, though later he had to explain around the fact Eric Holmes' Dreamwave-intended Megatron Origin had characters taking Primus' name in vain.

Japanese Beast Wars' cartoon continuity doesn't really align with Furman's IDW Beast Wars comic, or even the storyline of the American Beast Wars series. I think it's better to say similar stuff happens in all of these timelines, but it's difficult to say that they are all in a singular continuity. You don't need BW II or Neo to get the most out of the english Beast Wars series. Hell, I daresay you are better off not watching the Japanese Beast Wars at all so as to not diminish your enjoyment of real Beast Wars.

The final two panels in the present (which would be Earth year, 2006) establishes Ultra Magnus recapturing Swindle 29 stellar cycles later. Simon Furman said 1 stellar cycle in his then-current IDW storyline was 7.5 Earth months.

    2006 minus 29 stellar cycles of 7.5 months each = 1988, doesn't it?

I actually should have put new Avengers/TF crossover before Escalation, because Spotlight:Ramjet is set after Avengers (same writer), but Ramjet occurs concurrently with the events of Escalation.

Hot Rod was on his way back to Earth after finding the Magnificence, wasn't he? Say, take the events of Maximum Dinobots 1 (and the stuff after Spotlight: Grimlock) occurring during Revelation. But granted, Maximum Dinobots would better take place in the period shortly after Revelation.

In "War Within," Optimus was not part of the war until he got the Matrix and became Prime.

In "Spotlight: Blurr," we have a character clearly meant to be a "pre-Prime" Optimus (I think they even call him "Optimus"), and he's one of Kup's soldiers. Also, his personality is completely different from that of War Within's "Optronix."

So yeah. War Within doesn't fit with IDW.

Not to mention the whole idea of gestalts in WWI: The Dark Ages. Face it, as enjoyable as they are they don't fit.

Yeah, there we go, I forgot about that. The combiners were old hat in The War Within, but they were unheard of by the IDW Autobots and Decepticons until Monstructor appeared.

Use of the gestalts does makes sense for ruling out War Within ... though the Unicron and Primus explanation didn't. Furman has said in interviews that he does not plan to explore Unicron and Primus. He's done that too much. But nothing in any book put out rules them out of showing up at some point.

As for the idea there is a "real" Beast Wars that is ... laughable. Sounds more like ... well hating.

All TF has a place, an audience, and someone who likes it so why knock it? Even the version of Victory where DeathZaras has a wife and kids has a place ... It's just a weird place...

Considering the mangling they did to the American series, regardless of how well-received it was in Japan, I think I'm being very generous to Takara's treatment of Beast Wars. At least Hirofumi Ichikawa agrees with me.

So ... does that mean you've watched all of Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, and Beast Wars Metals?

Nah. Why would I watch something I dislike? Well, other than for wiki work purposes. What, just because I am a Beast Wars fan I need to watch the entire Japanese comedy adaptation and its accompanying spinoffs in its entirety?

I am allowed to dislike something while acknowledging it as canon. I'm a wiki guy, as far as I am concerned, everything fiction wise that has Haskara's approval is canon.

You miss out on a great deal by simply discounting all of it. And it isn't all comedy. Beast Wars translation has its problems but Hirofumi Ichikawa only panned the Beast Wars translation, not all of Beast Wars II and Neo. Neo, particularly the last 10 episodes mounts a death total that the movie didn't equal and makes Unicron much more impressive. Beast Wars II's Galvatron is also a great character, along with Starscream, BB, and Megastorm.
