I kinda like the cover. Based on that logo, and his name, is it possible that he 'drifts' from one side to the other?

    This. 100%

What's the bet he does everything that's awesome, and probably has edgy, badass dialogue?

    :lol

Holy shit, is that thing for real? I guess it must be.

You were all right, the quality of IDW's output has improved since they kicked Furman to the curb.

    :lol

What the hell is this shit?

    Terrible.

Cool cover, but the design of the character is way too Gundam for me.

i think that cover is fantastic. The logo background with the shaaft of light changing it from Decepticon to Autobot is really killer.

sure, the artist emphasized a "Gundam-y/Macross-y" look, but you know that's not the character model, it's just artistic interpretation (...and it's not the first time Transformers have been rendered more anime-esque, look at a lot of the Japanese art in the 'Generations' book) It's a stylistic choce, not a reflection on the character design (who i think fits in the Classics-styled G1-ers nicely)

I haven't read the comics, so i have no opinion on the character, but i really like the design and hope we get a figure in the next go-round of universe/classics/whatever.
that cover is less Gundam-y then E.j. Su's "-ation" series redesigns, which basically strapped Alternator chests to Gundams...

actually, looking at the character design, i wonder if this cover is Cybertron mode Drift, since i just noticed he's missing all of his car bits ~ wheels on the forearms and legs, car roof on the chest, wheel-wells on the shoulders, etc

The art is nice, but I'm still unimpressed by the character.
We already have a badass ninja in the TF world, he's called Sixshot, he's that badass he's a consultant ninja.

I'd much rather have a toy of a well-established character than him any day.

Yeah Springer rocks I'd a Spotlight of that and some Wreckers anyday, also I got no problem with Drift seems alright to me I understand why people are mad that he gets a Classics/universe 2.0 spot. I'd rather have a more familiar face (new triple changer Springer Mold.) but I'd buy Drift too cause he seems like he'll be a cool charcter after all he hangs with Kup. I'm just happy he's not a repaint, also with a little tooling mabye we'll get a Tracks out of him.

Too bad it's not his Earth form. I could use more images of his Earth form. At least I can have a good look at the shape of his blade from this. Now for that weird weapon on his back. The images out there show a wrong geometry for it to be a blade, and I haven't seen the tip anywhere.

Why? Because the info came from Australia?

I don't think IDW's current administration thinks very much of Springer, given Jazz beat him up in issue 5 or 6, because Jazz happened to be former special forces (hay, aren't Wreckers the Autobot special forces?)

The design's not too bad, I'd buy it cos I like car tf's and the more of them the merrier but I couldn't care less about the character.

If they want to introduce original characters that's fine with me but animated did it so much better with Lugnut and Bulkhead that IDW should be embarrassed by this attempt.
